Giants Win! Giants in Superbowl 42!

in a way I envy you guys b/c I remember how I felt back when the Patriots made it the first two times and you just cant explain the feeling. I dont unwish any of the recent success the Patriots have had over the past 6 years but it has also yielded a bit of a numbing feeling, perhaps it as just not all set in yet.

PS: actually I know what it is. The Patritos were never the under dog, they were never the little guy fighting to get to the top, all the years past they were never favored but now they were expected to do everything which they did. Not many gave the giants hope of winning the NFC championship, not in green bay, not in those conditions. No one gave them much of a chance in Dallas. I know where you guys are coming from. Its like the little train that could, that finally reaches the top of the hill

I do not think the current giants will become the dynasty that the pats have become. But like you said, its being underdogs and coming to the top.

You have to admit, even though you hate the Giants, this will be a good, fun, excitng superbowl :nice: :nice: Hopefully the Giants can keep up and give us all a great game!

I think there was some problems with officiating on the field. I don't know, but they were being a little cautious with the calls and missed some that should have been flagged. It really seems that the one Packer guy crossed the neutral zone before the snap and sacked Eli, other than that I know that there was all that contact with Burress.

Then again, that holding call was also questionable to me when Bradshaw ran it in for a TD. I dunno, but I know that we can't have stupid calls like that unsportsmanlike conduct in the Superbowl!

:nice:

We were at the bar watching the game last night on the 10ft HD projection screen they just put in...and let me tell you...it was SICK...the place ERUPTED when Bradshaw ran for the 48 yd TD...then got called back on the BS holding call...

but it was all rectified when Tynes hit the game winner!!!

Let me ask you guys for your "un-biased" opinions...were there A LOT of calls in favor of the pack; or was it just me?

What about the off-sides at the end when Eli got sacked; and GB was about 5 ft over the line when the ball was hiked? Or the illegal contact called on Madison....

That holding call looked like BS too me.. I missed that 5 ft over the line one.. I was doing some stuff in the house while watching.. I did see the illegal contact call, and like most of those it was questionable.

I think the refs in the NE/SD game did a much better job.

I felt terrible for Tynes when he missed the two FG's.. I was telling my wife that he just lost his job... I think he saved his own ass with that game winner.

I hope both teams somehow make it back again next year for a re-match.
I bet the entire planet would be glued in front of the TV.

I think if both teams make it back I think the pats would take the Gnats a lot more seriously this time

Honestly I think the pats thought this was going to be a cake walk.. boy were they wrong.. I never have seen brady hit that hard before

So, you don't think Belichick had the team properly prepared?
Maybe the Pats forgot that the final regular season game was only won by 3 points? Perhaps they forgot about the Giants win over Dallas in Dallas and the Ice Bowl II where no one could stop the Packers? Maybe they took the Giants a little lightly because they were going for an 19-0 record and one more Superbowl win didn't mean all that much.

No, I believe any non-Giant/Pats fan will tell you that on Superbowl Sunday, the NY Giants were quite simply the better team that day.

I'm not trying to add fuel to the fire or make any excuses, but it looked like they didn't take the Giants seriously.. and then got punched in the face repeatedly and couldn't do a thing about it. They were very unprepared, i've never seen that from them before :nonono:

That week 17 game was only won by 3 points but at one point in that game NE had 22 unanswered and the giants had no answers on defense..

i think the pats were a little cocky and thinking it was going to be a cake walk.. belichick and his staff did a horrible job the offensive gameplan stunk.. We could see at home that the giants were blowing through the offensive line yet belichick did not even try simple solutions like using his large TE ( kyle brady) to help block and keeping a FB in the backfeild... instead he continued to run moss on deep routes and stallworth on intermediate routes even with brady having less than 2-3 seconds to throw... How smart is that...

Where were the screens, they ran a couple and both worked... As the season went on the offensive gameplan got stale same thing every game, same thing that did not work to get our best tool ( moss) into the game.. If you ask me that is not good coaching..

in my opinion this offense became predictable and stale by the time the SB rolled around.. It was not the same offense late in the season as the one that tore up the league in the first eight weeks..

I really wonder what happend to the pats O-line.. they played some great defenses this year including the giants team that beat them in the SB and they never looked like that... Was it just a bad game? or did the giants figure out something that nobody else figured out before the SB??

I hope you and the rest of the giants fans don't get offended by what I am going to say next but here it goes..

the gaints on paper did not even belong on the feild with the patriots.. in fact some were saying this was the most lop-sided matchup in SB history...

the patriots flat out CHOKED!!!! this game should not have been close let alone a loss... they were not worthy of going 19-0 and they are not worthy of the regular season point differental record they do hold, because that record implies they were the best team of all time and that they certianly were not...

It was not the biggest choke in sports history but it was the biggest choke in NFL history.. ( I think the 2004 yankees hold the biggest choke in sports history)

I now wonder how this team will respond to this loss.. Anybody remember what happend to the rams after 2001

Bare in mind a few good things the Giants did near the end of the season: (stolen from another poster):

There are so many stories -
- Being the last team in the regular season to derail the Pats perfect regular season, playing starters when didn't need too and almost winning the game.
- Playing in the heat in Tampa and beating Garcia - who beat us twice in the playoffs
- Playing the Cowgirls the first time ever in the playoffs and beating them after losing to them twice in the regular season
- First time in 17 years the NFC team with the highest seed loses to wild card team - Giants
- Playing in Ice Bowl II in legendary Lambeau field and beating Legendary QB Brett Favre a week after he tore up Seattle in the snow and looked unbeatable.
- The first Wild card team to in the NFC to win 3 strait road playoff games and then win the Superbowl
- Beating the undefeated Patiots in the Superbowl - holding their record setting O to 14 points, Eli have 2 4th quarter come from behind TD drives, and the GREATEST play EVER in SB history
- Shutting down the Top 3 Os in the league
- Beating 4 Pro Bowl QBs in a row
- Keeping our D Coordinator for another year!!!!
- etc....

So, the Giants didn't just land there one day by a weird stroke of fate. They played their asses off just to get to Arizona.

All of that is true and I personally think the giants were a much better team than 10-6 and the 5 seed.. but the pats were supposed to be the best team ever...

the pats loosing the superbowl to just about any team in nfl history would have been a upset.. Loosing to a 10-6 team ( even them being a very good 10-6 team) is a choke..

Pats win 95/100 times. They took them very lightly and got bitch slapped.

To say the Pats took the Giants lightly would imply they were stupid. No way.
1. Last meeting on Dec 29th ended in a 3 point difference.
2. Pats were playing for the first 19-0 season ever.
3. The game was the Superbowl.
4. They have one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL.
5. The Giants just took out Dallas & Green Bay in hostile conditions.

BTW: The 10-6 record did accuratly reflect the Giants season. The 1st few games the defense totally sucked as they adjusted to Spags new system. The 4 other losses were because of inconsistant play. The Giants were not a dominant team like the Pats were. In many wins, it was by just a few points. At the end of the season, they were fairly healthy (except at CB) and everything fell into place at just the right time.

The Giants have a lot of room to improve but they really are getting there. I think the 2008 team will be a little better than the 2007 regular season team.

I agree.. we are a young team with alot of talent.. we can go places :hail2:
