Gingerman track day pics from OCt. 2006

WHy backwards? Cuz its more fun that way:bang: :bang: . Actually, it was an idea by speedtrials and we went with it. The turnout was less than usual, I dunno if it was the rainy weather or if people were thinking the same thing you were and decided not to come. But between the rain (me trying to put down 400ft-lb of torque on the falken azenis tires  :nonono: ) and trying to relearn the track ass backwards it was a pretty good learning experience. Albeit a messy one.:p

The only tricky part is turn one...when running backwards it becomes a decreasing radius turn with the pit wall on your right side. Not a good place to spin out. Oh and you basically had no braking markers. But other than that it was FUN FUN FUN.:owned:

The pics I bought from the proffesional photographer were taken when it started drying out. I was still taking it easy, I believe he passed me there and I came back and passed him a lap or two later. Only to spin out shortly there after:mad: . But yea when it was really wet (you can see it in the pics I took) they were passing me like crazy on the straight-aways. Couldent put a lick of power down.:nonono: vs. the AWD cars.

Just looked at your sig...You run a detroit locker at Gman:eek: :jaw:

I havent taken this car yet, I was only there with my stock diff'd 94 GT & my Acura.

The detroit locker is gonna be a handful, but with some R-Compound tires it will make steering the car with the rear end alot easier. Ive driven cars with Torsen style diff's and they understeered pretty bad. Plus my car is street/strip and then road course style, so I know its going to suffer a lil bit in each department to be able to do them all.

Huh, I'd like to see that in action...the diff. that is. I am very much interested in the torsen myself. When your not applying throttle my car is very neutral and the Falkens provide loads of grip. However gas or brake tends to create oversteer. I cant help the braking part until I can improve the anti-dive geometry w/ a torque arm or 3rd link. But a little understeer would be welcome on throttle inputs. But then again once I get a torque arm or 3rd link, I just may end up with too much understeer. On that note I have been considering the detroit tru-trac, which has a lower TBR than the torsen and therefore may be just what I'm looking for, plus its cheaper.

Nice pics, man. I hope to get some track time this summer with the suspension mods listed in my sig. Might be a bit tough making it legal for the track considering its a 'vert. I don't know.
I see a general brand description in your sig, but what suspension setup are you currently running (4-link with a panhard bar? Coilovers?) Also does that class of racing require a roll cage?

1Tall, you will need a 4pt cage at the least..All verts have to have a roll bare setup (basically a 4pt cage) havent seen a mustang vert on the track but all the miatas MUST have a cage. I assure you the same same applies for you. As far as I know, the only verts that are exempt from the cage rule is some of the really new, modern ones that have a roll bar that pops "up or out" (whatever it is) to protect the driver/pass. in a roll over. I believe the newer merc. SLK, and the boxters and various other porsche verts. have some sort of roll over safety device. However, our cars don't so you have to get a cage to protect yourself in a roll over. Simple as that. MAy I suggest MM. I have a steeda G-trac (stage 3 kit), MM PHB, alum rack bushings, and other stuff I dont remember. Basically I have everything in the MM Road and Track Box (if its not MM its a steeda equivalent). I bought the car with the steeda stuff on it and I was not going to replace the stuff with MM stuff only for a marginal gain (obviously its not cost effective), so I sorta have a MM Road and Track Box.

I belive AutoPower also makes cages for our cars. It wont hurt anything...if not for the safety at least for the gain in stiffness. Our chassis are soft in vert form (well not like the older foxes but still bad). Oh, and I love the PHB and I think anyone that has it will agree with me. It makes the rear so much nicer and predictable when you put lateral g-loads on it. It inspires a lot of confidence...trust me.:D :nice:
