Ah but there's a difference and I'll take this opportunity and try to make it clear.

When a thread is started that asks a question in tech then subsequent posts should all be an effort to answer that question. If you have a similar issue to the one that the thread is about then you might want to sit back for a bit and see if the course of that thread answers your question too. If that thread ends up NOT answering your question, then that would be the time to add additional information as well as posting your similarities with the original thread starter's problem.

The distinction here is to try and not change the course of the thread of the original poster unless his/her question has been answered first. Introducing new symptoms that are not related to the problem of the thread starter can make things confusing.

I love it when folks add to existing threads! It makes the most sense! The more details and twists you can add to a topic, the more useful and detailed that thread becomes. There just has to be some order to it, is all.
