Everyone has told me to put it in and you will love it. So I have firend with a pro 5.0 Ill give it a few more throws and see how I feel about it. My mustang firend may give me a black eye if I return it tho.

Mufflers(sound makes all the difference)
Shifter(FEEL FEEL FEEL)
Gears(FEEL FEEL FEEL)

those three things make a stock mustang so much fun.

Your shifter is something that you use over and over again every time you drive your car. In my opinion it should be the best you can afford. As for Mr. "$187 is chump change", and you shouldn't be modding if that's a lot, I guess he was never 16, stocking shelves to make enough scratch for new rear tires so he could go racing. I know I been there!

Nope never stocked shelves...i cut grass and delivered newspapers when i was 16 and i never would have wasted money on modding a car at that age. My car was basic transportation and my money went into savings for College.

Again if $187 is alot of money to you or anyone then should you really be modding a car and wasting it knowing you will never get it back?

Why did you order it in the first place?

If you wanted a better shifter you got it. And most would agree that it's the best out there. Modding is expensive. Some things cost more than others. Some mods add power, some mods don't. The MGW is by far better than the stock shifter. I missed a shift with my stock shifter and embarrassed myself to no end. With the MGW, it's never happened. Plus I purchased a new knob too. So it not only handles better but it looks great too.

While I agree with the presumed answer to this question, I don't think the 187 bucks was really the point of the thread. I think that the person who started this thread, impulsively bought a shifter and wants either confirmation as to why it was a good purchase or if the stangnet community thinks he wasted his money. It's obvious that the majority say that the shifter is a good investment if you are going to modify teh Mustang.

On a different note, props for saving money for your college education. That is admirable at age 16. I was chasin' tail and wasting my paychecks (not that they were much, detailing cars) ... Now, I'm rockin' financial aid but I will have it paid off by the time I graduate in December, hopefully. Tuition goes up every year ... which blowz! Glad I'm bout done!!!!!!!

Yeah tuition is a real PITA thankfully i never paid any I got myself a full ride all expenses paid education for playing football so the money i saved to pay for school went into purchasing my first property when i graduated.

Aftermarket just improves that mustang feel.
The wife had a stock shifter in the 97 GT and could not see spending the money.

Well a FREE aftermarket shifter showed up and was installed.

Well before the test she had no problems with stock shifter, but she had to grab the knob to shift.

With aftermarket she just finger shifts the car.

Result, best money spent and still should be the first mod on a Mustang.

does the MGW have shift stops on them like my Tri-Ax? I would think that would be an added benefit when slamming gears on an aftermarket shifter vs. the stock unit. You can prevent bending the shift forks better with an aftermarket shifter vs the stock unit.

With an MGW, he's not going to be "finger shifting". It does take more effort than the stock shifter but once used to it he'll never go back.

However, I see you already have you're mind set on what you want and no matter what you're opinion is of the MGW, i think your opinion will already be impaired and biased on the fact that you like your STOCK shifter..... So i say return the MGW. If you think your stock shifter is even REMOTELY good, its obvious you haven't driven ANY short throw mustang, let alone an MGW

That JLT will net you a better ET and MPH in the 1/4 vs a shifter...I own both a shifter and a JLT. Sure the Pro 5.0 with the steeda handle has VERY short throws...but power OWNS. I could slam the stock shifter very fast and actually liked it ALOT. FINALLY stepped up to the aftermarket, and NEVER looked back. I would NEVER go back to stock!

Once you have it in the car and drive, there will be NO buyer's remorse. I wish I would have done this mod first. Love my MGW and wouldn't go any other way at this point. That is all.

i took my buddies 94 to the track and it has the hurst in it. I REALLY like it. nice short throw, great placement and it looks cool. it has a little rattle in it though. i told my other buddy to get one for his mystic chrome tonight

edit: do they make one for the t56?

Up until I got my cams, my MGW was my favorite mod. I liked it better than my cb and even my x-pipe. If you keep it, you won't regret it once it's installed.
