Finally I got some codes

Here they go

118-Engine coolant temperature sensor above maximum voltage(My car overheated last night so that might be the cause.)

124-Throttle Position sensor above voltage

211- Profile Ignition Pickup circuit fault......This is the one I want to fix.. What could cause this??? I have a brand new MSD distributer????

Last one 657--What is this one???Its not in my book!

Hopefully this will fix my car especially 211. Seems like that would cause trouble

Try putting in the stock distributor I've read that some people have problems with the MSD's.

Guero, for the timing/PIP issue, you gotta check the wiring.

Also, the ECT should have enough tolerance that your engine would melt before you actually exceeded the ECT range.

Good luck.

Hissin you confused me- ECT has enough tolerance for what??? Your saying theres a short and thats why it pulled that code? And as far as the PIP I should look for sghorted wire???

Guero, the absolute tolerance on an ECT is well beyond that of the high coolant temps you should see (it reads up to about 300*F IIRC, and it goes well below your ambient lows right now). Check the voltage leaving the sensor (one side will show 5 volts at all times - check the OTHER wire). At operating temps, it should read a little under one volt. I have the feeling that there's a short (max ECT voltage = REALLY COLD coolant).

Tracing the PIP wiring is a real PITA. I did some testing that might help you. You should see approx 6-9.5 volts in the pink SPOUT wire when the SPOUT connector is connected (I couldnt read voltage through the plastic SPOUT chip so I removed the chip and put a jumper across connector on the car - my jumper let me put my DMM on the wires to read voltage). The voltage is lower at idle and goes up when you rev the engine up (because timing goes up). I wonder if yours is just kinda stuck at about 6 volts.

Good luck bud.

So if the ECT is at MAX ECT voltage that would also cause the car to overheat correct?? Cause the fans aren't turning on. Ill remove my intake and check all the wiring as good as I can

Hissin- I checked the wire out, and at idle is in the high 6 and low 7's. When you rev it, it when down to like 4.70 and the harder I revved it, it went down to 2.70 What does that mean?

Very correct. I will say that if you were driving around without the AC on (if the AC were on, that should make high speed come on), you are the man.

You're talking about the PIP circuit (the pink wire)?
If so,
I puttered around with my car and if I took the PIP signal down to even 6 volts, it started to cough really bad. I would imagine that going down to 3 volts would be horrible (it seems to me that it would be like having the timing set at 30* retarded). I'm going to have to dig a little to see how this can happen.

Sorry man I didn't realize you had this problem before the distributor swap. Good luck I am having some problems with my car right now too and it's extremely frustrating!

Guero, the high speed fan should come on with the AC turned on. Of course, this would bypass any ECT issues with regard to fan control.

What I was trying to joke about was that your fan should have been on since I hoped you had the AC turned on while driving around. And if you were not using the AC, you are the man. It's like 115*F. If you had leather seats and sat down, your could end up with scrambled huevos.

As I dropped my PIP voltage down, it was the same as turning the distributor towards being more retarded. My idle started to get really low and the car started to almost miss (like it wanted to stall).

I can only use the A/C at night as it will oberheat right now. even at night it gets pretty hot to were i turn it of.

Any idea why on the low voltage. I would like to note that when I ran without the spout and set my timing at 25*. It did run beter cruising a getting of the line. But As soon as it passed 3k my gauge went all the way up to 6k and backfired.
