The only issue I have seen with the 02-04 stock hood scoops were with people that "modified" them, or tired to make them functional. Other than that, I have never seen another issue.
Now, what really concerns me is that it seems all you want to do is drive over 100mph. The previous thread about driving all the time at 150mph.....all this on $10 USED 275/55r17 tire that are probably in a speed category below H.
If you really want to "bond" it better, you need to sand the hood to the bare aluminum, and sand the bottom of the scoop to the bare plastic, no paint, bondo, or primer. Then use something like JB Weld, the 2-part stuff that is safe for plastics. There is also some stuff that is more expensive, called Metalset A4 Epoxy. The key is to make sure the aluminum and plastic is "roughed up" from the sand paper. If you want even more adhesion, drill some holes in the lip of the scoop, not all the way through, but just deep enough for additional areas for the epoxy to grip. Do the same in the hood. Once you put the epoxy on, then screw the scoop back down, wipe the excess from around the joining areas. Let it dry for a good 48 hrs, then paint it.
I replaced a few screws that where rusted out. it looked like they used some type of glue that I had to remove just trying to do it right. and yes at least once a week 100+. I'm sorry wasting cars life if you don't take it to it's full potential every now and then
Taking a car to its potential is, I guess, a relative theory. It might be easy to hit "full potential" in a honda civic, but there are some that you can never really find out. Take mine as an example. According to the gear calculators, 4th gear at 7k would be about 145, in 5th would be 180+, and 6th gear is just retarded. I may hit 130+ here in Colorado, and 140+ in Oklahoma in the 1/4.....there are not a lot of places and roads that I want to try to hit something crazy on. I also believe that what you are trying to get "full potential" out of should be in pretty damn good shape. Most everything on mine was new with the build, except the body. I could only imagine the pucker factor of a blow-out on the interstate doing 140mph.
To each, his own......and while I trust myself driving in almost every condition imaginable. I don't trust that guy in the other lane!
