Going to do a tune up have a few??'s

Ok frist off whats the best plugs to use.. And do you have to take the fuel rail off.. And add any other helpful tips.. Thanks ya'll

dont have to take the fuel rail off. just need a 7mm for the coils and a extra deep 5/8 spark plug socket for the plugs.

the stock motorcraft ones are good, but getting the Autolite APP764 will get you the same exact plug. motorcraft plgus are made by autolite.

how many miles are on the car? you should also:

-change oil and filter
-change/clean air filter
-change fuel filter
-change trans fluid and filter
-chagne coolant
-change diff fluid
-chagne p/s fluid
-inspect brakes(might want a shop to do that)
-flush brake fluid
-rotate tires

I just need to do a tune up.. All the other stuff has been done this is my mom and dads old car.. Dad has had it all taken care of.. It just needs a tune up thats all..

thats what done in a tuneup nowadays. theres nothing to chagne except the plugs. if you want you can use a fuel system cleaner.

You can put a new fuel filter in as well as a new PCV. A coolant flush would be nice too.

GO with the Autolite 764's. Had them on the old GT and putting them in this one too. Also, get the Motorcraft fuel filter and a good synthetic trans fluid

Not to hijack this thread.....but is a p/s fluid, brake fluid, and diff fluid change really necessary, and if so, how many miles? I can see doing an auto tranny fluid and coolant.

I've never heard of flushing brake and ps fluid unless you had to empty the system and bleed it for some reason.

could mine being gapped at 0.054" cause bucking if they should be at 0.053"?

you flush the p/s fluid to help keep it from making the terrible ford noise. also you will be amazed at how the car feels with Mobil 1 ATF for p/s fluid.

for brakes, you always should flush the brake fluid anytime you do pads. i flush mine a few times a year, using Valvoline synthetic DOT3/4. i flush it before i go to a track event, then at the track i try to flush the calipers after every other hotlap session, then i do a full flush when i get home. having speed bleeders really helps in that i can have all the fluid flushed in about 15 minutes.

yes its for track duty. however i do suggest at a MINIMUM flushing the brake fluid whenever you change out pads. and i would definately make it a annual routine.

Brake fluid should be changed every 30k imho.
