Going to Restore my '67 - Please chime in with helpful advice

I own a 1967 coupe and finally have some money to make it pretty. It currently has a 289 with all it's stock parts. I want to change the 4-lug into a 5-lug, get discs on the front, stay with drums on the back, improve handling and suspension. THis is what I plan on buying and was wondering if there are other components I need?

(I'm not too sure if these will fit)

With this change, will I need to change my driveline and my transmission? The rear end will be an 8" 5-lug (2.79:1). Would I be able to beef up this rearend a little?
The car is mainly for daily driving...and an occassional stomp here and there.

Im not sure here, but you may have more work than you realize. If I am correct, 4 lugs were for 6cyl cars. Being that you say you have a 289, someone had to have changed it over without doing the suspension upgrades to go with it. Its hard to say just what has and hasnt been done and I am no expert on the 6-8 swap. Can you tell us a little bit more about the history of the car?

My first suggestion would be to pick up the original shop manual reprint. that is probably one of the best investments you can make when you're first starting out. and my second suggestion is that you keep checking back on Stangnet to see what's up. you learn a lot of things here from people who have been there and done it.

The suspensin kit and disc brakes you listed will do the job just fine for a street car. and before you order the bullets, be aware that they will require wheel spacers to work. since your car was at one point a 6 cyl, and you have 4 lugs, you're probably running a 7.5" rear end. You'll need to upgrade to an 8", 8.8", or 9" rear. run a search and you'll find plenty of information on the 9" swaps.

I have an 8' housing and axles out of my 68' if interested. would be a pain to ship though..

On 67 up, the only thing different is from the spindle out and springs which you are going to change anyway. You will need to locate some five lug spindles from a boneyard.

You need spindles, you have a 67, and you want disk brakes. Sounds to me that you are a good candidate for a Granada swap. Do a search and you'll find enough info to keep you reading for a year.

Unless you're going for big HP, a 8" rear should be adequate. Make sure to get the right length, varies by year. I would also go for about a 3.55 gear ratio.

Try to ake as many decisions as you can before buying parts. You need to think through compatibility issues. It's cheaper than replacing replacement parts.
