So I went to the dyno a couple of weeks ago, and basically could not get a full run in because the car had pinged. It was late in the day, so the shop didn't really try anything. They did give me a pretty good deal, so I am going back. Anyway, I know pinging is a timing issue, but is there anything else that could lead to it? My graph shows the A/F around 11.5 starting at 2200, but goes down under 10.5 at about 3300, where the dyno run was cut off. Can running excessively rich cause anything? i know that 10.5 isn't that bad, but it was only at 3300 and seems to be getting richer. I have an HI-6 with the btm that I was going to switch out the vortech unit with, and I'm thinking of turning my timing down to about 6. Also, I keep pulling an IAT code, which I have already replaced the sensor, still getting the code. I think its the wiring from the harness, could this cause pining as well? The shop said it shouldn't matter because it only affects it a couple of degrees. Any suggestions, or is anything I'm doing going to help this situation. They are charging 1300 for a tune, and I don't have the money.

Sorry, forgot to take the extender off of my sig. I used to use it to take off the shift retard and adjust the air fuel when it was NA.

Yeah, as far as the tune, thats just how expensive it is in Seattle. I've had 3 shops quote me that, but when I lived in TX, it was around 500-600.

So I guess pinging wouldn't be related to it being so rich?
