I am going to the track tonight. I was wondering what the best gas is to use. I can get any octane all the way up to like 120. But I know that's way to much. And how much timing should I run with the gas. It will be high 50's low 60's tonight. And is there any other trick and tips I can use for the track?

And any predictions of what I will run? I would like to see who's closest.

Use as little octane as you need to cure detonation. There is no need for >100 octane in a bolt-on street car like yours, it will slow you down. Take tools to adjust your AFPR, pump up the front tires to at least 40lbs, do not lower the rears UNLESS traction is an issue, but I assume it will not be, run the car as cold as possible (I like to run with the needle BELOW N), ice the intake, move the pass seat all the way back (unless you yank it out completely), remove excess weight like the spare/jack. Open your hood as soon as you are back in the pits, turn your heat on as soon as you are done with your pass and are on the return road, make sure the radio, heater, and such are off before you run, AND HAVE FUN!!! With that MAC CAI you may also want to try removing your passenger side turnsignal and use a dremel to open up the little hole there to let cooler air hit the filter as it is positioned right behind that side marker light. Hope that helps...

P.S.- I wouldn't go below 25lbs of air in a normal street tire if you do end up letting air out of them. Also, try a run powerbraking it (as soon as the yelows start coming down start applying the throttle with your foot still on the gas... this will bring the revs up a little and help you get to the 60' mark quicker, then also try "stabbing" the throttle on the last yellow (always start to go on the last yellow) as this will "flash" your converter and will do the same thing as powerbraking it (some cars respond better to one better than the other). The first 60' is where its at if you want to be quick.

Canary has this down. I agree with the mid 14s. Also, you should be ok with pump gas--92-94 or whatever is in your area for supreme. Keep your timing where it is.

low 14s, @96-98 mph... I think he'll get up to speed quicker than a regular 5 spd stock... and if he can get a good launch, definetly low 14s... doubt it will break 13s though...

-post times, I must be right! I need to be right! (just one of those people I guess )

Well, I actually have the timing at 12 right now what should I bump it to. I have the msd timing box so it is easy. Last time i went to the track I ran a 14.9. I didnt have the cobra intake, the headers or the msd. the best 60' was like 2.2 or 2.3. Should I warm the tires up on the ground or the water box.

Dont go in the water box, stay away from it.

Sinceyou have msd timing adjuster, start with 14-15, then play around with it each run to see what does the best .

What did you trap last time up?

Water is bad for a radial. Do a little burn out just to get dirt and stuff off the tires. A smokey burnout with a radial will make traction worse. Like mentioned remove everything from the car. Even that ashtray and what's ever in the glove box, stuff like that. If you don't need it, don't take it. Don't dump the clutch either. Pedal it out of the hole. Should shift around 5500-5600 in every gear.

I never do a burnout anymore... I noticed my 60' would SUCK if I went through the water... bad part is, the water goes across like the entire track, so it's really hard to get around it...

well, be sure to leave your hood open between runs, and if you can, run your electric fan (if you can)... it really helps out... don't run the A/C during your run, and have as many electrical devices off that you can, even the radio really, I've found I bog a lot easier w/ the radio and lights on than when they are off...

Terrible news.went to the track last night I got only two run because it was raining. The first run I ran a 15.07 at 95.8 mph with a 2.4 60'. I could not get traction. The track was all wet. Second run I decided to do a burnout. Still ran a 15.0 but got a better 60' but worst trap speed. My car ran like **** last night. I got better times without the cobra intake, headers and MSD goodies. I didn't know if this would effect my performance but my battery keeps dying. I had to get jumped at school a few days ago and I had to get jumped at the track. My car felt really really slow the whole way home.

You cannot compare any times at a wet track. Forget those. They represent nothing.

Plus I hate those ****ing kumho tires. I can never get traction with them. I need to get a set of slicks or drag radials.
