I'm going to run my 1990 LX for the first time on a 1/8th mile dragway. I have never taken it to the strip and i'm looking for some feedback on what it may run. D&D motorsport 306 (all forged), Edelbrock RPM heads(alum.,ringed), 1.6 FMS roller rockers, Lunati 244@.50, .542" roller cam, 30lb injectors, cobra upper and lower, 65mm throttle body, egr bypass, 75mm MAF (calibrated to injectors), MSD pro-billett dist, 6a box, blaster coil, BBK headers,h-pipe, 2 chamber flows, 410 gears, 5 speed. Currently setup to spray 150hp NOS big shot system (wet). Any thoughts to what it should run?

I plan on running a few passes off the bottle first to see how it will launch. Then i will run on the bottle. Any suggestions on launch RPM? Running some M&H racemaster DOT slicks 275 50 15?

the race masters will definetly help. I'm guessing somewhere around 7.30's off the bottle...
maybe some 1.70 60 fts
just a guess. Depends on a whole bunch of factors. Where you lanch, how old those tires are etc etc.

I wont be disapointed if you run faster than I did, but I will be a little shocked if you do!

Make sure you have the proper gear... at my track running that quick will net you a helmut regulation... always a pita to make a nice run only to be told you can't run anymore till you get more protective gear...

I've been to the track and they are very lax on inspections. I still have a six point roll cage and will wear a helmet. Got the slicks from a friend with about eight or ten passes on them. They should bite pretty good. Any suggestions on a launch RPM?

try 5500 to start with....thats what I launched my 94 cobra at.....with 26x8 MT drags....if you leave at to low a rpm its actually harder on the drivetrain. Higher RPM will help it spin a bit...therefore rolling you forward. If thats to much...then just drop it 200-300 rpm until it hooks well and doesnt bog.

I don't know! I would think a side step of the clutch at 5000 rpm would put more on the driveline all at one time. I think i'll start out a little lower than that and work my way up. Thanks for the input!

ok...you ask and I told you what I have done and will do again. Seriously it takes less stress to leave at a higher RPM......ask anyone. If you hook at around 3500 rpm's with slicks it pulls the engine down, and will cause it to nearly shut off. (unless you have a lot of power) thats been my experience anyway!

done it many times, ended up at 4500 with decent results.

I guess testing several RPM levels will be the only way to figure this out. Car is very hyper and hard to hook on the street because of the power it is making. I do not think it will bog down of the line.What type of initial timing do you guys run when spraying the NOS? I'm setting it around 6 degrees initial. Is this a good starting point? It is set now at 14 initial while not on the bottle.
