I am going for 11.49 at over 126MPH tonight... Car is running like an absolute beast! However, I don't have a roll cage... The rules clearly state that you need a roll cage if you go faster than 11.50... I think roll cages are ugly... Therefore, I'll take my chances...

Hell my track here in Valdosta is so lax I ran an 11.90 pass without even a helmet. Ticket lady looks in and say "that was fast" with a big smile. :/

For 'o5 the cage req NHRA is 11.5 / 13.5 - I think also if its pure stock class you can run 11.5 vert or no vert but I may be wrong on that.

yeah its 13.99 in a vert you need a 6 point rollbar, cause i have a 4 point rollbar, and now i have to swap it out for a 6 point rollbar i just bought from s&w...

you are aware that there is a reason for the requirement of a cage after 11.50.. i bet if you flipped your car at speed your last thoughts would not be about how ugly a cage is.

New rules (NHRA) for a vert is 13.50. Faster than that you need a rool bar. At Englishtown this is what they go by (Convertibles will go from 14.00 to 13.50 during eliminations and time trials for an eliminator. If a convertible is PURE STOCK it will be able to run up to 11.50 in time trials and on street nights, but it must be stock. No sticky tires, aftermarket bolt-ons, Nitrous, etc. will be allowed. Tech inspection will determine if a car is legal for the PURE STOCK rules. We will allow convertibles to run 12.80's or so as an example if they fit all the rules. The final say whether someone's car is legal and fits the PURE STOCK theme is totally up to the RP management

I know people don't like the roll bars but. It is for safety. As far as helmets go, you should have to wear a helmet if you make a pass, even if it is a 20 sec pass. Its not always your car or fault something happens. It could be a car from the other lane. You can get a street friendly roll cage installed.

Well not to hijack the thread anymore, but this is a link to a wesbite that has rollbars for our verts.

Now I know I need a 6pt rollbar, with a cross bar running behind the front seats to mount a harness on. Which brings me to my next point: a 5pt harness is required??

Here is the rollbar

They say this harness is required with a 6pt rollbar. Is this NHRA or IHRA rules, or just this company's policy? I wasn't aware a harness was required.

If it makes any of you guys feel better, I didn't get kicked off last night... I got towed off... Blew my clutch..

To clarify my roll bar issue.... I want to get as close to 11.50 without having to install one... I did buy one already for when that time comes and it is at the chroming facility getting finished... I picked it up from Maximum Motorsports... GREAT QUALITY...

The rollbar itself gets in the way of the stock safety belt... So, you need the harness with it... It also complies with NHRA rules... When you get a roll bar, you really should get the harness..
