Well I have been seeing this guy drive around town in a Black 5.0 GT T-top. Well I commented to my girlfriend and parents that I want to talk to him some day so I can offer him some money for it. Well today there it was for sale on the side of a road by a mane intersection. Well I go look at it and at first glance thought it was a different one because the hood was now gray but I remember seeing a rear taillight slightly cracked, and this one had that so I figure it is the same one. Well at first glance it looked like a somewhat beat up 5.0 Foxbody so I was hopeing he wasnt asking much at all. Well it did have a few problems all exterior. The taillight was cracked and there was a small tiny spot of rust forming under the rear window(easily fixable) and the door looked to be replaced or the meer must have broke off some how because the meer looked to be bolted to the door like six inches to low and a little to the side The door also had some rust on the bottom but this was only on the passenger door the other one was perfect. Also the 5.0 badges were taken off. It needed new weather stripping. and somehow it had 10 holes on it The hood also must have flew up because the cowl grille was smashed and that would explain the gray hood. The car could use a repaint. The good part is the grey interior is mint. It's a 5spd T-top, and it only has 48k miles on it So he is asking $4000 for it. Does this sound like to much for it? I could not decide because it had its goods and its bads

besides the minor prob's listed that sounds like to good of a deal for 4000, you might want to look at the dash and see the miles for your self, if the cocked like (__-) that means they've rolled over 100k, if there str8 (---- ) that means there orignal... if so go for it sounds Good! IMO

Price sounds awesome for the mileage, but bodywork SUCKS. I think you should post some pics of it to give us a better idea of its condition.

Id keep looking or try to talk him down, unless your good at bodywork. You sure its 48k and not 148k?

I don't think it is worht 3500 for that description. There are 3 ttop gts in my area for sale under 2.5k right now and one is red with 5 lug swap and is pretty nice.

id offer $2500 if the cowl is smashed (this usally happens when the hood flys up, not just a busted grill.), my 86 was like that and its a major opperation to fix the cowl (maybe not for someone that knows what they are doing) ... but if it just the grill then its no biggy.

I was thinking about offering him $2500 and see if he bites but thats as long as the carfax will check out. Is there anyway I could drive this for the winter in Chicago? Because I dont know that my parents would like 3 cars in the driveway? Also if I put Pony rims on it and fix the cowl, tailights and possibly get the car painted and put a new door on it, could I make a small profit off of it?

Sounds like a tired overpriced fox...you can bet the 48000 is missing either a 1 or 2 as the first didgit. RARELY and I mean never...will you find a 15-20 yr old car that is kept low milage that has been neglected like you're saying this one is. Sounds like the only saving point is the interior...and that's not a really to be considered a strong point....solid body FIRST...drivetrain second, then down the list. There is VERY little if any money to be made on the mid to low end foxbody cars, they change hands cheap and often.

I dont understand how the mirror is bolted too low unless it has vert doors on it. The t-top doors had the mirrors in the same place as the regular stangs. I also doubt the mileage highly. Car is worth about 2500 just from your description alone.

sounds like a 148K car........$3000 would be top in my book.
The bad thing about starting out with a car like that is there is always another problem and you always end up with a car that looks like a pig with ear rings.
