Good Disc brake conversion kit for 66?

I want to upgrade my manual drums in the front to power discs in the front. Any suggestions? Iv'e looked at SSBC, Baer, MP......Is the SSBC Force 10 with 13" rotors worth the $$$$. I doubt you can notice the difference between 11" and 13" rotors unless you race on the track which I don't. Also if I go with the 13's then I have to get 17" wheels which is not a big deal since I'm getting new wheels anyway. Any feedback appreciated.

I know some people who race with the granada swap. You will be out about 500$, and there is a guy that sells a kit with new spindles for that swap. Do a search for granada on here you'll find tons of info.

I would look into a mustangsteve swap. He has caliper brackets that use a cobra 13" rotor and calipers off a new mustang. His brackets are like $300 then add in $150 for some brembo front rotors and another $100 for some calipers. Beats teh $1200 SSBC price and you can use your stock drum spindles

if you want larger brakes, but want to keep a 15" wheel, cobra automotive has the kit for you. their first kit used 68 Tbird rotors and 69 lincoln calipers. they now have better calipers, same style(4 piston) as the lincoln calipers, and new rotors, similar to what is used on race cars. you can also use the scarebird caliper brakets and use an 11" rotor. or use the stainless steel brakes kit. you can also do the granada or maverick swap as well.

r u using these i am considering these or the shelby engraved bare kit from unique performance im running 2001 bullit rims so ive got the clearence

IMO, if you want to run 17" or larger wheels, this is the best setup in terms of bang for the buck. There are other much more expensive kits out there, but you won't notice a marked difference over this setup with those kits given your intended use.

im thinking of running it... I will never run anything from unique performance. They are the biggest bull**** sellout company ever. I would way rather spend less money and support a small business or in this case a single guy helpin the hobby

yep, now if you really want your mind blown, you can add RRS and fatman fabrications to the list as they have a brake swap as part of their front suspension swap. also with the fabrication of a few balljoint spacers, you can swap on different spindles, like the 68 Tbird, or fullsize ford. what you need to do is decide what you want from this car, and decide on what wheels you are going to run. then you can make an informed decision on what brakes you should run. to give you an idea of what i mean i will give you two examples;

1: my 64 falcon with a six cylinder engine, will get the scarebird conversion. it will be running 15x6 torque thrust D's, and will be a back up daily driver.

2: my 66 mustang will get a 15x7 wheel, and with a 351w swap i want larger front disc brakes, and i want either the pbr calipers from a late model mustang, or four piston calipers from a 69 lincoln, along with the larger 68 Tbird rotors.

both cars may ultimately get 4 wheel disc brakes.
