Anybody know where I could get a good front drum to disc conversion kit for my 68? Id like to make it power. Does wilwood make any front conversion kits? I really like thier disc kits.

yes any one should be good I went with a stainless steel kit from laurel mtn mustang.

I'm just waiting on word from the machine shop to let me know when they are through making my caliper adapter brackets for my '68.

This is what the Bullitt caliper and 13" Cobra rotor would look like installed on my '68 notchback with Granada spindles:

I've been looking into a complete kit from Master Power Brakes. They provide the booster, master cylinder, all brackets calipers rotors pads bearings and cap for like 849.99 which is a good price for all of that. They're kit fits onto the existing drum spindles so no need to get new spindles. I'm going to save up and buy it this winter. I went with the MP power brake setup for my 67. Used the 68 version with the single piston setup instead of the 67 four piston calipers. The only problem I had was with the flex hoses being too short and MP replaced them.

I have the SSBC (stainless steel brake corp) non- power front discs. I went with the upgraded calipers and they work great with my 11" drums on my 9".

They are also made for the stock drum spindles so install is not too bad.

A little over a grand.

Why did you use the 68 instead of the 67 the 4 piston setup is better.

DAMN SKIPPY Jester =)

Also, I believe the 65-67 spindles are the same for drum and disc so you don't need to worry about geting a kit that will fit a drum spindle. I could be wrong on that tho.

yes..that's why i asked him, i have manual front discs and obviously it takes more to step on them, but it stops better than most power brake cars i've driven. like new bmws porsches, fords, chevy's whatever. as long as you can walk up stairs you should be okay...and i mean the leg muscle not how good shape you ase in

Thank you so much for that link! That is exactly what I've been looking for.

Now my Cobra will donate it's breaks to the 65 and I can get Cobra R Brembos for the cobra, all for about the same price as the 13" SSBC kit!

This is a great find!

how much did it cost to have them make the bracket for you?

~$500.00 for 1 pair of proto-type adapter brackets, --which includes converting my drawing to a CAD format that could be programmed into the CNC milling machine, material costs, setup and labor time. Essentially $65.00 per hour.

After the intial proto-type is made, the cost is not as much per pair, but for a producton run of them, I will have to come up with $3,000.00 to have them produced.

Producing conversion parts is both very time consuming and very expensive as well. I'm just a regular working-class dog like the rest of you. Producing Mustang brake conversion parts is just something I do on the side, so coming up with this kind of money is a major expenditure for me.

I have manual disc brakes in the front. If you can swing the extra $300 get the power brake setup, but the manual discs stop fine.

I am in the process of ordering the SSBC MB slotted and plated converison kit through NPD to replace the manual drums at the front. Hopefully this is a good kit as it is quite expensive. I am also planning on converting to power brakes when I get the money, is this worth it? Judging from the replies above maybe not?

I also have the SSBC 11" kit. I got it from Summit for under $1000. I love it! It stops awesome and the directions were awesome. It's a direct bolt on to my stock spindles.
