I am looking to buy a 2005 GT. I passed by one on the used car lot for 23,999 is this a good buy? Original price was 26,999.

Here is what it has:

black coupe
black leather
shaker 500 stereo
auto transmission
theft recovery system

I dont know if its a "good buy", but it seems to be typical of the deals that I've seen offered locally.

You might still find a few new 2005 GTs. A dealer in my area had one and was willing to take about $1500 off list price. Its gone now.

But not much IMO(MILEAGE)...when you are talking about a 20-25 thousand dollar car.

U might find a better deal but I am not sure..thats seems reasonable if it comes with full warranty and all.

The price means nothing without knowing the mileage and condition of the car.

If you've read some of the other threads you'll see that discounts are now available on 06 Mustangs, including GTs, so I'd have to think that assuming it has around 12K miles and is in very good condition Original MSRP - $5K would be more like it.

I forgot to post. This 2005 GT has 17K miles. I assume it still has 19K miles under the standard Ford coverage. Anway, 17K seems like a lot of miles and the car has been on this lot for 3 months ( at 26,999), they just lowered the price few days ago to the 23,999 mark

fbb says
Retail = 27,600
trade in Excellent=22,250, Good 20,800, Fair=18,575

I think I will just go new, since someone mentioned some deals now. I also qualify for the X-plan. Last I checked in Oct/2005 the one dealer I was at said no deals on the 2005 GTs only V6s and no x-plans.

I don't think it will be much longer before there are deals on new GTs, and before used 05 GTs start to drop under the $20k mark.

Good decision, $24K is too much for $17K miles on it. Prices are now rapidly dropping.

When I find one at a bargain price.

Let's face it cars are depreciating assets, it's silly to pay a premium for any car. Especially, in my case, where my Mustang is a toy, not a daily driver and I rarely drive my Mustang in the winter.

My 2001 GT has only 27K miles on it and is in nearly mint condition, so there is no reason for me to rush out and get a S197 Mustang other than I'd like to upgrade from my old obsolete SN95 to a much more modern and niceer S197.

Given the Mustangs poor sales for the last 6 months I may be convinced to buy when Ford puts some good incentives on the 06s or I may pick up a used 05 if I find one at the right price. In another 6 or 7 thousand miles the tires on my 01 will be shot, that will probably be the time to get rid of it and get a S197.

Keep looking around for a dealer that will take x-plan. You should be able to get a new one(may have to order) for around $25,000.

No way would I pay that much for a used one with 17,000 miles on it when you can get a new one for a couple of thousand more.
