looking for a good place to take my 8.8 for a rebuild. it has 3.73's but i am about to upgrade to a auburn 31 spline diff and the five lug of course. i need the housing to be straightened, and the axle tubes to be welded and have the whole thing assembled and ready to go before january is up. i live in the south west corner of michigan so any thing in northern indiana, chicago, western or eastern michigan would be preferable. any good shops at all. that and not to expensive...lol

I took mine to Paul's High Performance in Jackson Mi. He is expensive (labor rate = $90.00 / hr.) but Paul and his staff really know what they are doing.

His website is www.paulshp.com
His phone # is 517-764-7661

They are usually booked but you can not beat the quality of work they do or his reputation / relationship with Ford Motor Company. Plus it's a shorter drive from the west side of the state than it would be to come to Metro Detroit.

Do you have all of the parts? Or are you going to have the shop order them? That will make a difference

When Pauls did my car, I just dropped it off without an apointment and the following took place:

Car was delivered to PHP on 6/3/05 for 3.73's + 28 spline Auburn diff install.
Paid for parts @ time of drop off (let PHP order everything)
Parts took 2 weeks for delivery (trouble with differential shipping)
Car put up on hoist - rear end removed / dissassembled while waiting for parts. [ 2 hours labor]
Rear end cleaned and repainted (Black) [ 4 hours labor]
Parts arrived and are assembled on bench [1.5 hours labor]
Rear end reattached (reassembled) to my car [0.5 hours labor]
Car test driven and picked up (paid for labor) on 6/20/05

Keep in mind that Paul and his shop did this while there were a whole bunch of other cars in front of mine and were very happy to get it done before my deadline of 6/24/05 - for the Saint Ignace Car show.

well...i will just deliever the rear out of the car already. so i will cut down on that. plus i ahve to install my steeda 5 link anyways. thats why i need the axles straight and true.
