Finally broke down and bought an MSD distributor, Part number 8598, for a carbed setup but has the steel gear for use with a roller cam....pull it out of the box and it has a cast iron gear so anyone buying one of these beware
Ya. I bought one on ebay and made sure it had at least a bronze gear. It costs almost as much as the damn distributor to have a steel one put on. Bronze will work but may or may not last on a street car. I agree- buyer beware!!!!
This was straight out of the box too, bought it brand new from Summit, box says steel gear, tag on distributor says cast iron gear, use only with flat tappet cam, I sent it back today, good thing Im doing some other projects and dont need it right away
