Good tire for the street?????

Hey guys 1st time post here great site, also if this is in the wrong section mods feel free to move the thread..

Ok anyways whats the best cheater slick for the street????? my Nittos are starting to go thin and I'm not really happy with the way they preformed, I really think that when it comes to nitto tires you pay more name then anything else..

any advice for a good cheater slick?

I've heard such great things about the Racemasters. The 60's I've seen out of those are rediculous for a radial. I just go a pair for each of our cars. In fact, they're still in the Explorer from getting them mounted. Can't wait to try them out in April. With the discount, they come to the same price as ET Streets, and it looks like people get better times on the M&H radials.

Dark you are gonna love the M&H's...I ride around on the Nittos 555 DR's on the street and use the M&H Racemasters for the track. What size did you get?

I run the M&H 325/45/17's and I am very pleased with them. If I use them on the street I run 28-30psi and they are great. Track I just drop the pressure down to 17psi. I will say, however, that they do suck in the rain. Other then that they are great.

I also have the 325/45/17 on 17x9's. Here's a crappy cell phone pic. Haven't taken them out of the Exploder yet to get good pics. Bullitts for the '07 and Mach's to match the current wheels on the '05.

I have the 275/50/17 on 17X 9 American Racing Shelby Torqs...I think the next set I will get the 325/45/17's. Their sizes seem to run really narrow. The M&H 275 is probably equal in size to my 245 Kumho.

Yeah, they do run small. As you can see the 325 fits perfectly on a 17x9 wheel. I'm sure it'll look nice and meaty upon install this weekend. I'll be sure to post a pic or two.

I'm hoping to get some track tires this spring and would love to see those on.

Mickey Thompson ET Streets are definately the best cheater slicks available.
A cheater slick is NOT a drag radial either but a slick with 2 treads that meet minimal DOT requirements.

In a 17" cheater slick, yes. I would go with M&H's if I was going 15". They also have a cheater slick, but not in 17". But a radial is better for the street, and the question is what is a better street radial. And I don't know that I would trust any M/T tire right now, since their main rubber supplier went under, they've had to find a new supplier, which may mean they're playing with their formula to get it right. I've seen 60' times under 1.5 on M&H drag radials which is pretty much unheard of with an ET Street radial.

This might be another choice as well...I was at the World Drag Racing Expo at the Shaumburg Convention Center last weekend and saw a stack of these...

Nope, those are 17x9's from American Muscle. The 275/50/17 drag radial from M&H would fit on and stock 17x8. I wanted a bigger footprint, so I sold my 17x8 Bullitts/tires and that pretty much paid for 2 17x9 Bullits and 2 17x9 Mach 1's.

Even so, I would still pick the M&H 325 any day of the week. A radial that you can drive on the street, and so far a best 1.473 60' for me, and a 1.44 60' with my buddies 3.4 whipple mustang.

If anyone buys the M&H 325's and are unhappy---PM me---I will buy them off of you. In my opinion these are the best 17 inch drag tire made---radial or bias ply.

a quick google search found the 325s for $189. BUT, it was from that one place that likes to screw up orders. also found that summit racing sells the complete line of M&H tires, but i didnt see these on the website. may call them and they will price match competitors. not a bad deal, IMO.

That said, even without the discount, from everything I've read, they're worth the money. Might wanna see if they're interested in sponsoring the forum.
