Heya.. Just had my birthday this weekend and my team went to work on making me make my car fast and bought me a cam... I've not heard anything about this that I can remember, so I figured I would post here and get some opinions on it.

Speed Pro Part #CS1177R
Advertised duration: 299 intake/309 exhaust
Duration at .050 in. cam lift: 222 intake/232 exhaust
Gross valve lift: .510 in intake/.534 exhaust
Lobe Seperation: 112 degrees
Peak horsepower rpm: 6,000
Peak torque rpm: 2,750
Power range 2500-6000 - Fair to slightly rough idle

Anyone have any experience with this? I know I should PROBABLY convert to a MAF before I install this and I think I'm going to get heads and an intake as well. Any input at all as to what would work well with this cam?

TTT, any input on what would work well with this? Also, has anyone heard anything about this cam/company?

Duration seems high for a stock 302, make sure to check p/v clearance.

That's what I was thinking, I at least want to do heads and an intake when I do the cam. When the engine goes boom (something will blow eventually) I'm going to try to go for a DSS 331 as well.

What do you guys think I should think about doing before installing this?

Go with the Maf conversion, check p to v clearance, that cam seems pretty big (powerband wise...seems you have to rev it to get it anywhere but that 331 can't take care of the torque)...is this a daily driver...?...might be a bit "rough" for a daily driver...

Yeah, it is a daily driver. Do you think I could find a good H/I combo to balance out the cam? I'd hate to get a gift and not make any use of it.

I have the TFS stage 1, and only the lift is slightly less, with my combo, I am pulling alot more higher power, and about the same bottom end. I think you'll like it for a daily driver.

That's about the same duration I'm running on my 347 cam. It'll be a bit rough on the street, but as long as piston-to-valve clearance is fine you shouldn't have any problems. Definitely convert to mass air.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I was hoping that this would be workable, and if I can do it without losing any low end power that would be excellent.

That 331 your planning will help that "loss" of low end torque...

Looks to me like a good power adder cam, in a 302 your going to run slower than stock cam and you absolutely will need minimum 3.73s out back. I wouldn't run it, even with a set of good heads (AFR165s or TWs) and intake (Street Heat or Performer).

have you verified this to be a hydraulic roller cam?
hell I wasn't even aware that speed pro made performance cams

just some observations...
duration is big, probably will not pass the sniffer (if you have to worry about it)
I would guess that you WILL have piston to valve clearence issues.. you will eigther need new pistons or notch your existing ones.
that cam WILL NOT work with speed density MAF conversion is required
the cams got SLOW ramp rates & a narrow LSA so vac. will be low.. may affect
your power brakes & or HVAC controls.

given your current set up...I'd avoid that cam like the plauge
