Do you have any specs, templates.. anything like that a certain other hatch owner could use?

Awesome! I just made one too out of nice particle board, I need to upholster it, right now its that black finish that you see on some furniture like Ikea stuff.. I'll get pics of mine too.

I did notice a major reduction in rattle noises.

If you have either the measurements or actually get some like drafting paper and trace it, ill help you recover some of that 20 bucks you spent

Id bet you saved about 15lbs most. The rear seats arent that heavy at all. Plus factor in the weight if the new wood and carpet.

I have to agree..

the 2 rear seat backs, just by them selves are 17 pounds. the seat portion of the back seat might weight 7-8 pounds tops, then you just have the seat belts, the 2 little "u" shaped brackets (where the bottom seat clips on) are at most 5 pounds each... so im thinkin the weight savings might be even a little less than you figured. The wood & carpet are probably about 15-20 pounds by themselves... im thinkin he might have saved about 10 pounds total.

I still want to do it. no more than 1 person will be riding with me at a time anyways, and IMO it looks a hell of alot cleaner.

I suck at laying stuff out, its easier to have something to start with and adapt it.
