Has anyone had these codes before and if so, what did you do to fix the problem?
Before reading these codes, I would have guessed the problem was the O2 sensors given the 86K on them. But now I'm thinking I might have a fuel delivery issue (low pressure perhaps).
Here is what I've done so far to try and cure the ping problem: Cleaned MAF, new engine temp sensor, new IAT, new fuel filter, changed timing to stock setting (10 degrees). My car is only slightly modified: 94 GT w/Borla Cat-back system, MAC Pulleys, K&N filter, Accel Coil, Distributer Cap and Rotor, Ford Motorsport 9MM wires, Sportsline Suspension Kit, Factory Five Upper and Lower control arms, Hotchkis Caster/Camber plates, and FRPP headers.
I cleared the codes last night and reset the PCM to see if I can get any new codes, so far no check engine light. The engine seems to run a little better but I still have the ping under load (especially in 5th gear).
Code Descriptions:
181 (M) Fuel system was lean at part throttle Single, Right or Rear HO2S - Fuel control
189 (M) Fuel system was lean at part throttle - Left or Front HO2S - Fuel control
