Once you get the insurance check it is yours to do with what you want. You are not required to meet any obligations. Make sure you have the car inspected closely for any hidden damages if you plan on using the money to fix it because as stated before once you accept the check thats all you will get out of them. You are just being paid for the damages done be the other insured driver, how you spend it is at your will. I took mine and ordered all aftermarket parts and paid a third party never involved in the estimate process to paint my whole car. Good luck and no matter how you do it you almost always come out ahead.
Right on....the insurance company has nothing to do with it, hell, you could keep the money and never fix your car...you can take it to Joe Bob's repair shop....it doesn't matter.......fix what you can......buy any parts you can and find a body man that will give you a deal on the quarter and whole paint job........once you get the check in your name......the insurance company is out....
I drove around with a dented quarter on a vert cav that a neighbor backed into when in college.....car was parked.....it was one of 3 cars so I kept the check from the insurance company and never fixed the cav...it was a beater anyway........
