Got Nitrous???

Im debating between NOS or Zex for my 03 GT. Im planning on going with a 75 shot, but nothing more. I was wondering what you guys are running (Zex, NOS, dry, wet), if youve had any problems, and if you needed to replace anything besides what comes in the kit (spark plugs, injectors, fuel pumps etc.) Also what do you guys think the best way to shoot the nitrous is? Please give me any info on these kits. Thanks

If you haven't sprayed
Nitrous on your stang before I say start off with a small 75 (wet) shot
and move up later if you want to run bigger jets! Also never spray under
3K rpm because you will have a chance of fuel puddling witch means your
intake manifold can possibly explod by straying under 3K rpms also,make
sure your bottle pressure is between 900-1000 psi. before spraying!If you
are going to use the Nitrous make sure the gas petal is at WOT(wide open
throttle) when spraying and make sure you have at least 91+ octane in
your gas tank if you are going to use the nitrous! If this is your first kit I
wouldn't NOS because I would only subjest it to a experienced Nitrous user to run it! I highly subjest for you a 75 (wet) shot of ZEX because it's alot
more fool proof! Since you have a 03 GT I say only run a wet shot because
will get better HP numbers! :nice: www.zex.com also ZEX is simpler too
use and is safer.With your 75 wet shot I would for sure get all the saftey
goodies if your smart.Also your stock fuel system is good to 100 shot than
I would upgrade the intank fuel pump and fuel pump if I was that person.
For sure with any nitrous kit install one to two step colder plugs of course
before spraying.
 
Awesome, thanks for the info Xanax, Ive read up about a few systems and so far Zex seems to be the best and more user friendly. Besides the spark plugs, purge kit, bottle heater, and pressure gauge what other safety things could I get? Is the purge kit really worth it? Also can someone explain the difference between wet and dry shots.

The dry shot is a nitrous line that is connected before the throttle body
and sprays nitrous first and than adds fuel.The wet shot is connected to
your fuel injectors and sprays nitrous and fuel at the same time.Any nitrous
kit can work but,I think spraying nitrous and fuel at the same time is safer
and more effective meaning higher hp/tq numbers.As for a dry kit in my
opnion it's more like a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow up but,in all

You pretty much named all the saftey goodies you will need.I would get
a dyno tune shortly after you install your ZEX nitrous system to get the
air/fuel ratio corrected so,you don't blow up your 4.6L engine.Also ZEX
is pretty much the saftest because the brain(the purple box) if it sences
detonation/pinging when spraying the nitrous it will simply shut the nitrous
off and fuel off so,you can't go wrong with that! :nice: Just follow the
saftey steps in my last post and your engine 03gtmustang will be fine.

Would this be difficult to encorporate with a Kenne Bell supercharger in the future? Id love to spray and be supercharged. I'll never forget the 03 cobra i saw spraying and running 12 pounds of boost at the same time. Needless to say it was FAST. Not to mention the intercooling affect from the spray.

Since you have a 03 GT I say only run a wet shot because you will get better numbers

That's just plain not true.

Also if anything a dry kit is easier to install and safer to spray. I would stick with NOS or NX. I'm not saying that the ZEX kit is bad but the other kits have more than proven themselves.

I agree that Nitrous
Express has been proven to put down great numbers but,I don't
agree with you on NOS putting down better numbers than NX!
Yes a dry nitrous kit is easyer to install but,it will simply not get
better hp/tq numbers than a wet nitrous kit you are wrong my
friend.Also you seem to be missing the point of this post I am
trying to help 03gtmustang out because he is a newby to nitrous.
Plus in my opnion you also sound like a newby also but,there is
nothing wrong with that.Also you are giving me the impression
that you don't know much about nitrous kits so,please quite giving
out wrong information out to people o.k. atleast not on a thread
that I participate in! A dry kit is safer :rlaugh: :rlaugh: You need
to educate yourself more on nitrous before you go spouting out at
the keyboard with wrong information.A ZEX(wet) nitrous kit for
03gtmustang would be the best choice because it's simply the
safest for him being new to nitrous.Also a dry nitrous kit is safer on
a 96-98 GT's NON-IP headed stangs that have a problem with fuel
puddling in the intake manifold.Also 99-04 GT's don't really have the
fuel puddling problems unless you spray under 3K rpm.The wet kits are
simply the best in the terms of 99-04 GT's because they have the
better breathing IP heads and IP intake manifold.Lopey the wet kits
will always be safer because it sprays nitrous and fuel at the same
time witch will have a less chance of nitrous backfire and fuel puddling.
Like I said before any nitrous kit will work but,with a dry nitrous kit
you have more of a chance in a 4.6L engine of backfires and fuel
puddling.
 
You wont be able to go full throttle by 3k without spinning too bad anyways
you'll have to ease into the gas as is so your shouldn't even be hitting your spray until probably well above 3000 rpms

Good advice Kirkyg! 03gtmustang you will have to ease
into the gas peddle as Kirkyg specified because if you don't you
will be spinning your tires badly and plus you have 4.10's so,yes just
let the ZEX brain do it's job and ease into the gas peddle and don't
WOT the gas peddle until you see your at 3K rpms and you will be fine

I never ran a Zex nitrous kit but,I ran a NX 100 wet shot.Hopefully
someone with experience with this Zex kit will come on this thread
and post there experience.On the Zex web site they said it retails
663.00 Ford nitrous kit but,I seen them for 500.00 at
www.mustangsunlimited.com .They have good customer service
and know alot about the Zex kit I'm sure of it but,they would be
one of the best places to get the Zex nitrous kit from as for price
and knowledgable salesmen go's.It takes about four hours to install
the Zex kit properly.

A little FYI for Xanan: Dry kits do not puddle, and intake backfires are almost nonexistant with dry kits.

Also if you think that ZEX is the best then you need to hit the search function. I know nitrous very well. installation, design, use, tuning and how the PCM reacts. This dry kit is the most advanced for the returnless cars.

thanks for backing me up on this , I have ran alot of nitrous cars . 5.0s that is so I know the potential of a dry kit when used right . I just wish more people would get it out of their heads that wet kits are the only kits that make power , NITROUS IS NITROUS < GAS IS GAS , get both of them in the engine its going to make power , no two ways about it
now like I have said before to my GT buddies that get tired of being picked on my LS1s , NITROUS IS MY FRIEND everybody say it with me LOL
