Granatelli Lowers worth the price?

Yeah the adjustability is cool, but is it even nessary?

It seems as if they have steel bushings (OUCH)

I was thinking either those with Ford Racing uppers or the BBK upper/lower combo?

Suggestions?

Its street/strip by the way

I went with some FRPP uppers and Maximim Motorsport lowers, non adjustable. Looking at the oem and FRPP uppers, I couldn't see much of a difference. Not sure about that "stronger" bushing theory? I've heard that some of the combo kits uppers are to stiff. But a lot of people seem to be running them without issue.

I saw pics of someone's Granatelli LCA that had broke where the tube meets the bushing... cracked the weld right off. Personally, I don't think I'll be buying their control arms...

I also saw a pic of the Maximum Motorsports ones bent in the same place. Parts break under severe force.

I have the Granatelli Lowers and Uppers and am satisfied with them! I needed the spring perch adjustment to bring the back of my car up a little.. Of course there are nicer ones out there if you dont mind spending $300+ for lowers.

Yeah I suspect that wasn't your everyday mustang that broke either LCA. After 18 years on the OEM stuff, I just wanted to upgrade my components and read a lot of good things about MM products. I guess your budget will dictate which brand you get. I paid $238 for my MM's from stangsuspension.com and got the FRPP's from johnbleakleyford.

Yes, the spherical bushings make the car ride pretty rough over bumps and what not, but I'm sure a better set of shocks would help them a lot being I also have drag shocks in the back too.

You're going to get a harsh ride if you use anything but the factory rubber bushings, which don't like hard launches real well. Gotta sacrifice some ride quality for quality timeslips!

maybe UI should just wait till I need em and then deal with it, money seems better spent on chassis stiffening anyway

i have granatellis and personally i think they are junk.

myne didnt fit right on the axle side and the bushing required serious trimming, and when i tried to adjust the spring perch up fo more clearance it stripped out.

i bought the MM weight jackers and the quality everywhere is much better... no cheap powdercoat, good looking welds, and there is a grease fitting right on the threads of the spring perch so they dont end up stripping out

i bought granatelli uppers and lowers and havent had any prob with them except! that i had to narrow my rear swaybar.

Go look on the corral, there are a ton of post about how bad the Granatelli control arms are.

Opinion from An Outsiders Perspective ...

Whenever I'm taking a crap and thumbing through my Summit catalog I always stop at the Granatelli control arms and snicker.

The only question I have is why they designed them with the spherical rod end on the torque box side of the arm??? I guess it works well when you want to maximize NVH into the interior of the car.

I realize the sre's allow the diff to articulate better with less bind compared to a poly bushing ... but the poly's are better for relative NVH. If a company does make an arm with sre's on one end .. doesn't it just make more sense to put them on the diff side of the arm. crapola

I have installed and delt with a few sets, and they are hit or miss. I have had to trim bushings to get them to fit and I have bent the threaded perches on hard launches.

I have them on a few customers street cars and they still are fine, adjusted a set after 1.5 years and they were still fine. I do antiseize the threads before installing.

Yeah, but I don't think the car in question had an extreme amount of power, or slicks. If I recall correctly, it was an average street driven H/C/I car, and broke the Granatelli on DR's at the track. It was definately not a dedicated drag car. Personally it isn't worth the risk to me when there are other inexpensive brands out there with a better rep... or just buy some used higher end LCA's, even if you have to replace the bushings, you'll be getting a lot more for your money...

i baught those last month, the race version or whatever no problems very very good welds, and if they hold up in my car they should hold up in yours just fine.

They will perform just the same, but a little more money ... you will feel no difference between the two on your car
