A buddy of mine just bought himself an '07 GT manual a few weeks back. He ordered up the JLT CAI/X-CAL 3 with custom tunes combo from Bamachips on Thursday. It came in Tuesday and we installed the JLT(fairly simple task made somewhat difficult due to the two piece tube trying to get it and the filter adjusted right and stay together:notnice:). Next came tune time. We went to upload the 93 torque tune, but 54% into uploading the stock tune, it froze. After several minutes of it being stuck, I called Bamachips. Doug answered on the second ring:nice: I told him the problem and he walked us through and got us up and running smoothly in a matter of minutes:D While I was waiting during the loading of the tune, I was asking him about his upcoming dynotune day at a speed shop in Northern VA on July 19th. He's a down to earth guy who loves talking Stangs for sure! Just thought I'd point out my great experience:D

Why did it freeze 54% into uploading the stock tune and what did you & Doug do to resolve the problem?

Ordered the 3 tune refill for my x-cal 3 from BamaChips (currently Brenspeed but for $115 bucks figr'd it be good to try the Bama tunes just for fun) last week and the tunes were in my e-mail by the next morning. :nice:

Wait he ordered it this past Thursday and it came in Tuesday? I ordered mine Thursday and it hasn't even shipped yet. It is still sitting in "Processing/Payment cleared". He even put a note in there that says the Tunes are ready. Maybe I should give him another call.

Hey there... I ordered mine on 7/1, Tuesday and it's still sitting as "Processing/Payment cleared." I hope everything is ok with Doug.

Newbie question here:

So the tunes came in your email. How do you get the tunes into the X-Cal3? I assume it's a connection from your computer to the X-Cal?

I'm on Mac...am I F'd for downloading tunes? Do I have to visit a nerd with a PC to get tunes downloaded to a tuner? :p

Thanks.

I bought my first tuner from Doug for my 04 ranger 4x4. I was so impressed with Doug and the product, I will only tune with bama now. Before bama, I used the jet generic chips, what a joke compared to a bama engine programer.

USB connection x-cal to PC, SCT software on PC pushes tune to handheld.

have no idea if it works on mac.

Not 3V related, but freezing up, or failing in the middle of the program download isn't an uncommon problem. I had the same problem with my XCal 2 when programming the ECU in my Cougar. Just had to start the process over again and it usually worked by the 2nd or 3rd attempt. No real explanation for it really?

Why no ore racing this year for me????? The Stang Club I'm a member of has drag day events about 6 times a year. My work schedule conflicts with the remaining dates and I'm not planning on buying anymore "stuff" for my car this year. I already know what it can run the way it sits now. As long as the club has the track days($52 for 4 hour private rental)where you can get in several dozen runs if you so desire, I will hold out for those once a month. The three times I've been I've run a total of 33 times(6, 11, 16). The other tracks near here you pay $20+ to sit in the staging lanes a long time and might get in three runs during the session.

Here is a 10 minute video of our session back in April. You can see how quick we could cycle through in that time frame. I wasn't working on my reaction times as you can tell:rlaugh:I was working on my launch RPMs.
