Why is that good news? Has the annoying insecurity that way too many Mustang owners have towards GM performance vehicles really gotten to the point that a major American manufacturers financial troubles are GOOD news? Do you dislike competition between brands? Do you want people to become unemployed? Will you really feel better about yourself if GM has less performance vehicles? Oh yeah, and what makes you think that the same thing couldn't happen at Ford (other than the fact that their performance vehicles are already half-assed, at best)?

I appologize if I am being too harsh or making myself seem like an *******, it's just aggravating that so many people act like GM is an enemy and almost act threatened. At this point, Gm, Ford, and Chrysler are closer to allies than enemies, and whether you like it or not, the 3 need one another and this country needs GM.

Great news from Detroit would look more like "Stiffer trade regulations make Toyota a non-player in US Automobile market. General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler sales boom!" Or maybe "UAW pulls head out of ass, US carmakers bring manufacturing back to the United States."

Nobody is more of a Blue oval man than me. But for anybody to be happy over GM'S problems and claim to be a Ford person just is not right. The day Gm stops producing performance cars all Americans will have lost. If Ford does not have the competition whats to keep them motivated to keep improving the Mustang. One other note there will be alot of suppliers that both companies buy from going under. So if any American wishes bad luck on any American car company they really should be questioning there allegiance.

GM's troubles are just one small bit of the side of a coin that involves all of us. So hearing that a major staple of the American industry and economy is having some serious problems is nothing that should be cheered.

Also lack of competition leads to complacency, and that is something nobody wants to see at Ford.

I used to do the advertising for Chevy...until I got laid off in December. (I drove my Mustang every day to work, too.)

Living in Michigan (which you don't), you can understand how important it is that our manufacturing jobs and the Big 3 need to stay alive, or it will affect this country in a bad way.

Yeah, I like Ford stuff. I like some (very few) GM products. Like the other posters have said, if you're the only one left standing (Ford), then who is going to challenge you to make really cool, interesting products? Nobody.

Don't be such a tool. Maybe after you lose your job in this economy, you'll have a clearer sense of what's really going on, and what really matters.

Remember ,,, this is GM that we're talking about here - the same company that brought us the X-car, the Diesel Cadillac and Jeff Gordan on Sunday.

btw, which one of you was crying when Chevrolet pulled the Camaro out of Van Nuys Ca. and took their POS "pony car' production to Canada

I'm sorry to hear that Chevy is making such a drastic move to eliminate their engine performance department. On a good note they have the blue prints for engines that have been proven so they can always come back to the same formula for high output engines.
This economy hasn't bottomed out yet but I'd hate to see the big 3 fall because of it.No matter what I'm keeping my Mustang. I hope my grand kids won't be forced to buy imports when we are dead and gone.

I like Ford as much as the next guy. But, I like the United States more. It is never good news to hear a major corp, like GM, is struggling. It will effect all of us in the country. Think about how many people work at GM dealerships... tens of thousands. If those people lose their job the entire country will be in a bigger world of hurt then it already is. We need the big 3 to succeed, all of them. We need people to stop being afraid to spend money and start buying stuff again. The govt needs to make the American general people feel safe again.
Just my 2cents.

That's exactly the insecurity that I was talking about. Why is that, you don't want another car to compete with? Do you only want to race Mustangs forever? Or is it that you're afraid because Chevy has the balls that Ford doesn't to put an actual POWERFUL engine in their cars, rather than just doing a butt ugly redesign and putting a cold air kit on the same old engine? Or do you want the only people beating you in a race on the street to be in imports? Because no GM performance will soon mean no Chrysler performance, then no Ford performance...

Also the same company that brought us the overhead valve V8 engine, reliable 3 speed transmissions, and in later years the LSX, one of the best and most well-designed engines on the market today.

And we could just as easily say Ford is the same company that brought us the Mustang II, the Pinto, the Aspire, rebadged Nissans, the 351M, the 2V 4.6 (puts on flame suit), the 6.0 powerstroke, and the years and years of plaqued, poorly designed electrical systems.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person here who thinks your post is idiotic. And you, sir, are ignorant.

Ford has also said that if either GM or Chrysler collapses, so will their suppliers, who also work with Ford. If either of the other two manufacturers go under, then Ford would be in trouble as well because their suppliers would be gone. Being happy that you will not see a V8 Camaro doesn't make sense either, the team that went away was responsible for the CTS-V and the Cobalt SS, not the Camaro, ZR-1, Z06, etc. So unless you think the mid-70's to early 90's were exciting times for cars, I wouldn't be too happy to see performance divisions being cut.

Yeah I'd have to agree with what everyone is saying. Ford NEEDS GM and Chrysler as well as America needing these manufacturers. I couldn't imagine a country like America, the greatest country in the world, not making its own vehicles. I am not a fan at all of Toyota and Honda and other foreign car companies. I will always buy American, Ford preferred. Competition between the Big 3 has always been exciting and keeps arguments up and forums like this running. I DON'T EVER want to argue about my S2000 vs an EVO. I mean jeez Toyota doesn't even have a performance vehicle!
