I have the Griffin 31X19 and after flushing and draining twice I added about 3.5 to 4 gallons of distilled water and coolant. I've burped it a few times this week and have added just under half a gallon more distilled water. Cools like a champ.

Ok thanks guys so around 4 gallons of coolent and Distilled water mixed up.

92 Green GT -- I got mine here in Canada so I would say that you in the US would be to get a better price right from Griffen.

So 4 gallons...of fluid and water is what a 31x19 Griffin holds?...what would be best...a 50/50 mixture or what?

Im giong to put more water than coolant in mine. I want the best possible temps I can get. Is this a good idea? Oh, I didnt buy anymore Water Wetter becuase I didnt know if it was safe to use in em. I guess it is but I didnt know for sure.

I use just water, and Redline water wetter in mine and she runs like a champ. Got stuck in Traffic for 1 1/2 the other day, in Texas heat and didn't go above 180*.

I was planning on going to a distilled water and coolant mixture, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to drain the block dry before adding the new mixture. Just unhook the rad hoses and let the water pump pump it dry? I was afraid running the water pump dry would damage it or something.

Besides doing what the name says, antifreeze is an anti-corroding agent. Pat yourself on the back for aiding you radiator in the rust war. Water is what actually cools your cooling system off, but antifreeze is used for those two reasons right there.

i remember reading in my haynes manual that there are drain bolts on the bottom of the block somewhere??
that could just be for a different year, not sure.

So 4 gallons of distilled water and radiator fluid (antifreeze) would be enough to fill it up...? I was thinking about putting a 1.5 gallons of radiator fluid and the rest with distilled water...that should be right about right in 90+ degree heat...
