Grille Removal

Just wondering, how do you remove the honeycomb grille in the 99 and up stangs. I'm having trouble getting to the screws on the bottom side of the grille.

Gently pull the grille toward you [front of car] the plastic bottom will give and you can get a hand with a wrench down underneth to hold the bolt while you loosen the top. On one off my bottom bolts i had to cut it off. It's a pain but you'll get it.

Some people have found it easier when you remove the headlights. At least if you have small hands.

its easiest to take your bumper off... trust me...and takin the bumper off isnt that bad either...

Put your fingers in the holes and rip it out with unscrewing anything, thats the fastest easiest way to remove it

Just unbolt the two top bolts and pull back the bumper. You will be surprised how ductile the bumper is...you can bend the crap out of it and it will be fine. Its a pain to get it off but just keep at it and it will come off...you do not need to remove the bumper!

Buy a "finger socket wrench" at one of the auto supply stores (I forgot where I bought mine - Auto Zone? Pep Boys?). It's basically a socket wrench, but without the straight piece.

Use a 7mm socket (I think that's what it was).

Pull the plastic up a little bit, for easier access.

And, of course, have the hood up, so you can reach it more easily.

It was still a bit difficult, but do-able.
