Grounds!

I need to know as many locations for grounds on a 2003 GT as possible. Does anyone have a list? I have a popping sound in my speakers when I unlock the car and my speedo no longer works and a shop told me to check ground wires and I don't know where to start. Any help on where they are would be much appreciated. Thanks

Grounds are just in random places, and you probably have upwards of 15-20 to check if you go through them all. I might be able to get a diagram for you tomorrow.

There is one from the motor mount to the frame rail that is extremely important. MY speedometer never worked right until I installed that strap. It wasn't there during my build and my speedo was stuck at 120 then it would bounce to 150. I put that strap on and it works fine. There is also one at the ECM. Two more by the battery/framerail area. Make sure they all have good contact and no corrosion. A guy over in 94-95 Tech was having overheating problems.....and after changing everything, it ended up finding a bad ground that was corroded and that was the culprit believe it or not.

I think Im going to check the motor mount one you speak of tomarrow and I will let you know how that goes. Thanks for the heads up on that one.

Put the cluster in diagnostic mode

Set it so the display reads MPH digitally. Drive around and verify that the digital display is either correct or incorrect.

If it's correct, the problem lies internal to your cluster.

As for the speakers cracking...could be the head unit about the crap the bed

So i got the car on the lift today to check the ground from the motor mount the the frame. It looked crappy so I began taking it off. When unscrewing it the whole motor mount bolt came with the nut and twisted the ground wire an broke it in half, But managed to get it fixed. I only drove about 3 miles and the speedo worked ok. The real test will be the drive to work tomarrow. Ill let you know.

Ok, so cleaning the ends of that ground by the motor mount did not work, anyone else know of any common grounds that might come loose. I live on a rough gravel road so the car takes a little more vibration than most cars.

No, I never found a list of grounds, and the dealerships wont give me a list. I think Im just going to sell the car.

I'm in the same predicament. My car is having similar problems with radio speakers popping and like light switch power to the car on and off on occasions.

alldata online is the source that the places around here use and they showed me the list but would not give it to me and would not let me purchase it. needless to say the places that did this will never get my business again.

Hey, I just went and exchanged the batteries at Autozone since mine still had a warranty, and the problem has disappeared. I also used my Diablo and turned off TC!
