i've had my gt-40 intake for about a year now, and it just sits in my garage becasue i have no money for a TB, or a mass air meter. I have all the bolts and gaskets to put it on just didn't see a reason to without the other stuff.

Do you guys think it would HURT my performance if i put it on with out the other goodies. Its just sitting in the garage, and its taking up space. Plus i could probly sell the stock intake for a couple of bucks. what do you think, put it on or let it sit.

it will HELP performance. get it on there. you will be better off with the stock tb anyways if you still have stock heads. you do know you need the elbow adapter right?

Is it in good shape? If it is ...I'll trade you my polished Cobra upper for it.
I was going to buy a GT-40 style and sell mine but if you wanna trade, pm me.

Put that thing on there already! I helped a buddy put GT-40p heads, 1.7 rr's and a cobra intake and he's still got a stock TB and MAF....

He did just order an FRPP 65mm TB and a 73mm MAF and some 24's though...

This sounds like a very good deal Moose. Jump on it. They're basically the same intake.

I know this guy ... nice guy ... a bit crazy ............

but anyway

He had AFR heads, Edel RPM intake, custom cam, LT's, etc.

That goofy guy almost made it to 300rwhp with all that stuff.

Almost forgot the important part here ............

He did not have any tb or maf other than stock

Who in the world told you ...............

A tb & maf are mandatory for an intake upgrade?

no one told me it was mandatory, just figured why do the job twice if i can do it once. Jesse james always says work smart not hard. But my income is a little low these days and i am not going to have the money for that stuff for a bit, so i was going to put it on.

95turbo, as for the trade i kinda have to think about it. It is in very good shape. I sandblasted it, then repainted it with good high temp paint. Ill take some pics and send them to you. can you get me some pics of the cobra.

The more I thought about your Questions, I could not come to any other conclusion than this ... if you are still running E7's that is.

The intake will not up air flow enough to warrant larger inj's.

No need of larger inj's mean no need of larger maf.

If you went to a larger maf, you would yield a gain but it would be very small. Not worth it IMHO. If you have plans for a ProM maf, this would not be wise because you'll have to recal the maf from your current 19's to larger inj's as your combo progresses. Why pay for the extra recal? Just do the maf when you need the larger inj's.

Now, if you were to go with a C&L maf, you could always change the sample tube when larger inj's are needed. The gain with this maf would be about like the ProM.

As for the tb

Same kinda deal as the maf. You will get a gain but it will be small.

I'd definitely put your intake on there as the gain will be more than small. Don't let it sit around and gather dust.

That is a mod that will be felt for sure.

One Last Thing ... I saw no gears for your combo and if that is so

A set of 373's would give you many times more satisfaction than the tb/maf and that is where I'd put that tb/maf money.

you dont need a TB to make 299 rwhp

when you do the TB, do the fox body conversion with an accufab and sell your elbow.

what work are you referring to? changing the throttle body, thats not much work man. changing the throttle body is the only work you will have to do twice. not doing this swap would be lazy, not working "smart"
