GT bumper, 3 row radiator, and electric fan...

I put a GT bumper on my notch and am in the process of mod'ing it to a "gt notch..." anyways... I like how the GT doesnt have the scoop in the front... but as its gotten hotter lately.. that little scoop is so damn functional... I'm heating up like crazy. I have flushed my cooling system, and replaced the thermostat. What kind of fans are you guys running on your radiators? I pretty much have to run mine 24-7 to keep it cool which led me to add the 3G alternator to keep the charging system up... going 80mph and having to run the fan SUCKS...

im not real sure what the differences in the different styles are (GT vs notch - i have a GT vert). do you have the chin spoiler (curb finder) under there? that, i think, is real important. it draws air up to the radiator since it cant get through the (lack of a) grill.
the fan is not good for anything over about 25 mph, but i get your point (but it is drawing air through a wall basically).... you might as well have a piece of cardboard in front of your radiator since you are getting no air flow. just my thoughts. good luck.

I have a 85Gt and I have similar problems. I also live is FLA so my prob is magnified. I was thinking about going with a fiberglass hood either a 2in cowl or one of those dual scoops hoods. Would this help out the running temp at all? I mean having a blast of constant air circulating through the engine bay seems like it would help. Thanks...

Did you get all the air of of the coolant system? If not that will cause the gauge the read higher than the actual temp.....

I don't have any problems with mine nor did I ever.....

I have a 195* t-stat, pepboys 3 row, and a Mark VIII fan which I never have to use unless I'm sitting still for about 7mins maybe, then the needle starts to rise pretty fast...

Do you guys have the plastic peice that goes under the radiator. It scoops air up to the fan. When I had my gt bumper I never had a problem. I added the cobra insert last year so I have more air flowing through.

I have my car lowered 2", so that little plastic piece under the car was ripped off looong ago...

i like how the GT effects look... but if you actually look at it... the little scoop at the bottom only lets air hit about 3" of the bottom of the radiator... could I possibly make a small curved metal piece to direct air upwards or do you think that might make the flow even worse? I'm going to find a piece of flexible plastic and make another little airdam underneath and see if that helps any... and a cowl hood is on the way... also I was thinking about using the foglight holes along with some duct and routing air towards the radiator as well...

this is what I plan for my car to look like when I'm done...

Never seen a notch with GT effects and no wing, does that ever look sweeeet!

To those who think ground effects should never meet the body of a notch, piss on you!

As for the poster, i'd invest in a Cobra Grille delete, should get plenty of air through then.

My brother and I both have that airdam. It looks awesome, and helps a little I guess. I also put holes around the ford emblem in the front for more airflow...

i gto a 2in drop to and the stock floppy air dam hits everything, if i had it, that thing would be ripped off in about a week

Matt is right on this one, My brothers car is pretty low and his scrapes coming in the driveway, but I can't imagine his car any lower. If it were then it probably would get ripped off....
