Hi I have a 04 GT (auto trans, BBK cold air intake), my 1/4 ET's are on the low 16, the best was 15.95, how can I make those ET's that I saw on the magazines? Launch RPM, shift RPM, etc?.
In Drive I step one foot on the brake while I rev the car to 2000 RPMs, when the green light comes on, I left the brake and step on the gas, I set the programmer to shift at 5200 RPMs
By the way I have the Diablo Programmer, any advice about modifyng the parametrs (torque modulation, RPM shift points, Shift firmness, spark advance, fuel base)???
I think this device is great so I want to move in the right direction.
Thanks a lot. I live about 3500 feet above the sea level (El Paso Texas)

PS. Is true that the 99 GT (auto or manual) has a rear gear ratio of 3.23 and the 04 3.55?

I thought we all had 3.27's stock

Also, what are your 60' times? Post up a timeslip for us to try and help ya out

Where do you live? Altitude can drastically affect a cars performance. 04 Cobra cut no better than 13's stock in the Denver area.....

The 2004 GTs with automatic transmission come with 3.55s from the factory. With my manual GT, i launch at 3500 rpms and drop the tire presssure to 25. (stock tires)

Hum, either you are doing something really wrong, or there is a problem with the car. Stock, you should be in the mid 14's at least. What RPM is the car shifting out of first?

Are you sure you don't have a V6?? What is your trap speed...there is NO WAY you should be running 16's unless you are at an EXTREMELY high altitude

DBM said it, do you have any more info for us?

If I stuck an apple under my gas pedal I could hit 1/4 mile in under 15.

Man there must be somthing seriously wrong with your car cuz I got my dads 00 V6 5spd to do 15.8 at 87.4 and that was the 2nd of two runs( first run the trans kept me from hitting 2nd until My revs dropped and run like a 16.4 at 86 somthing).Maybe you have a vert and you had the top down with the A/C on, the hand brake up, and the traction control on, J/K. (it is possable though LOL) I really dont know how the times could be that bad, you could just stand on it and let it shift by itself and run a better time than that, No offence, so my guess is that one of those mods screwed your car up...did you notice and performance gains when you did those mods? Also maybe you had a REALLY crooked salesman who sold you a V6 and told you it was a GT...quick way to find out what does you speedo and tach go up to, mine is 150 MPH and 8K RPM, if its 120 and 7K RPM you have a V6...LOL nobodys that dumb just messing with ya.BTW hope you figure out whats wrong.

There's never been any proof of that. We all got 3.27s auto or manual except for the Mach1 and Cobra, both of which have 3.55s stock.

I'm calling bs too. I bought my car in salt lake city when my v6 took a crap on me. The v6 ran good though before, in the high 15's. Anyways the GT vert pig was conciderably(?) faster than that at a way high elevation and when I got back to fresno It was high 13's stock. Only way a gt is going to get 16's is if it has a 1.8L and a metal wing. Just my opinion

From what Ill Ive read, only the Mach I's & Cobras come with 3.55's. I know the Cobras do... Im honestly not sure on the Mach's. Regardless, unless you have traction control on and are shifting at 4500rpm, you should never see the 16's... EVER...

It was a 2.3469 with a full tank of gas and full tire pressure of around 30-35 PSI (had a slow leak so it may have been around 25-30cuz I filled it the day or two before).Actual E.T. was 15.8312 at 87.40. That was all stock except for a K/N and removed air silence, and run as is with nothing taken out, but with a few extra things that we took, like a small tool box and a jacket or two.Hope that helps.
EDIT: That was also my first EVER run at a track with ANY car, so I probably could have done alot better given a few more passes, but I am pleased with the results because i have never PERSONALLY seen a V6 get into the 15s, however I know plenty of people have did it.

I have a stock 96 GT and even that sled pulled 15.2 the first time i took it to the track 3 months ago. BTW im 17, this was my first manual, v-8 or rwd car. Im getting it up around 14.5s on the stock (shot) tires and spinning 1st and half of second gear. I need more paractice...so you should eat, sleep and live in that car until you get those times down.....that full tank of gas doesnt help either. You should never go to the track with more that 1/4 tank....thats dead weight you dont need. Do you have Subs in ur car? cuz those weigh a couple of pounds too.
