GT-H

I was refering to the article posted here that Ford had produced these cars as rentals with Hertz. I was going on a trip and going to rent one. I would have thought California would have been the first to get these cars, but I cant find one.

From what I understandad about the Shelby GT-H project, the cars are still limited in availability with a total of 500 for the fleet and I think right now, only available in Los Angeles at a rate of about $180 a day.

The rental and check-out requirements are tighter than the original program of the 60s where the H was notoriously abused and returned with everything from holes in the floor board for roll cage installation to engine swaps. The H of the 60s didn't get the tagline of "Rent a Racer" for nothing. :)

Edit Add: Thanks Bigcat :) my "Los Angeles" above was in reference to APowers statement that he was coming into San Diego, CA. I recall reading the initial H's in CA would go to LAX... Here is Hertz website.

“Rent-A-Racer” production is set at approximately 500 units, with each being distributed to Hertz, for rent exclusively through the Hertz Fun Collection, at select airports in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.

did you try an airport location?

Yup, LA and San Diago. People at Hertz acted like I was stupid or somethng. May it was me, I was raised up in Mississippi by Irish parents. It is a wonder anyone can understand anything I say.
:rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: No-No.. It is society in general. :nonono: A couple of the fellas on Shelbyforums.com were successful in procuring a couple. Try reserving one via the website link I provided. San Diego was on the list. Perhaps the "computers" will be more adept at assisting you. :nice:

Good Luck and enjoy San Diego. This time of year is beautiful!

SWEET AZZZSSSSS As for where to go! ALL OVER IN THAT MOFO, My Friend! :hail2: You are most welcome. One thing I have discovered over the years is customer service is dead and computer inventory and automation will get you farther than talking to some incompetent individual who has no clue.

Get pics. BTW - they are all the 5 Speed AOD. :) Practice your power breaking now.. hahahahahaha

whatever you do, DO NOT *cough, cough* pull the ABS fuse out of the fuse block to disable the TCS. you would not want those tires to lose traction!

We went to a wedding in Colomus, Ohio on weekend in July and Hertz had a GT 500 H at the at the Airport. They tried hard to rent it to me. When we got there the price was $125/day. One of the counter people took me out to look at it and the price changed to $100/day. We rented a base Stang instead.

You will have a blast. Very fun cars. Here's some pics of the one I rented and an article I wrote for Cardomain:
Have Fun!

Yeah, both the Handling and Power Packs are installed.

The hoods are fiberglass from what I gather, and that is why they will not be installed in the production Shelby GT's later this year.

Please take lots of pictures..
