Hey guys i had a question and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on a problem with my 02 mustang gt. it has the following mods : headers , xpipes , exhaust , axles , diff and 4.10's. Recently i went to the track with drag radials installed. I ran a 3 times and even with a 1.9 and 1.8 60'fts i only could muster up a 14.1 @ 99mph. My brother made a video of the track event and i could tell i was shifting slow and carefully from watching it later on because i had missed 3rd the first run so didn't want to break anything.

Now the problem is that on my 2nd run i noticed on the video a puff of white/greyish smoke coming out of the right tail pipe. I don't have any cats on the car i was wondering if that was because of that but later on when i was backing out of my driveway the next morning another puff came out but since then nothing . My engine light is on due to having no cats and i haven't gotten the delete for it just yet. i was wondering was it cuz of that. Also my car would stall out once i did my burnouts at the track. If i reset the car by pulling the battery post off the engine light goes off and the car doesn't idle weird or stall out. I kinda have no idea where to start on this. Should i pull the plugs do a compression test what?? some support please.

Sorry for the long write up.

I would go to the parts store and get your codes pulled if the light comes on soon. Sounds like you do really need some MILS. My car has an ORX and it doesnt shoot smoke or stall or idle funny, and I dont have MILS as I am gonna do the Radioshack MILS this upcoming weekend if I have time.

This would be alot easier than doing a compression test and since that you "fixed" the problem by reseting the CPU with pulling the battery, I would check the codes first...

Having no MIL's will slow you down. Its not so clear after you take the cats off, cause you gain some power. But put the MIL's on after driving around for a while and you'll notice a difference after getting the MIL's in.

Cant say for certain because I havent seen it in person, but smoke out of the exhaust is either water/coolant, oil or overly rich mixture. Going by your description, its deff not a rich mixture. Keep an eye on your oil and coolant levels.

EDIT: First and foremost, find out exactly what codes you have. You can have a CEL for 1 code or 10 codes, but you wont know why till you check.
