I have a 87LX and I put a hatch from a 91 GT on and it bolted right on just like Stinger said. You have to do the wiring to get the brake light on the spoiler to work but thats no big deal at all. I do have a small problem with my hatch though, I need to do some fine tuning to it because it rattles pretty bad and the dome light will flicker on and off and the light thats in the trunk part stays on even when I close the hatch. Other than that though it looks great and is easy to put on.

The wiring is the same, you just have to match up the wires with each other and there should be a little slack on the wire, there was on mine.

aftermarket hatch'es are fiberglass and while they are much lighter, they also leak, and fiberglass is prone to cracking. Also they do not have glass windows, but rather lexan which turns yellow in the sunlight over time. Theres MANY other ways to drop weight in a stang than sacraficing on the hatch.

Unless you are racing or want all that weight reduction. they also make fiberglass doors and fenders.

I am suprised that the GT 3rd brake harness dosnt fit the lx. where is the light on the lx?
