take it to the track and run them only way to settle the arguement.

Now having said that. I've pushed a rx8 through corners and the quickest stock one I've seen run at the track ran a 9.3 something with most been high 9 sec 1/8 mile cars, gt's normally run 9.2's there some dip into the 8.9's stock.

don't they run high 15's stock? They are nice cars but not exactly straight line killers...now if they ever put out the twin turbo version that was rumored a few years ago then they will be worthy adversaries.

Racing elsewhere is not only stupid, but leaves the loser with too many excuses to make that caused the loss.

yea you should win man they have absolutely no torque what so ever its something like 150ft lbs they really dont get up and move until teh higher rpms say around 4 or a lil bit later. they are suppose to be at best mid 14 sec cars thats with a good driver. So i say gt wins just dont mess up though

Exactly. If you lose, you need to put a "for sale" sign in the window.

yea i was actually looking at these before i ever considered a mustang and they are smooth but dont make power till around 4 grand and feel like they are bogged down in teh low rpms. And you pretty much never need to change the oil because they actually drink some of that oil so you have to keep adding oil every so often so basically you just keep adding new stuff. And yes its a 1.3l but i was told insurance is way low on them cause insurance companies consider it a 4 door

if you rate the rotary engine the same as a traditional engine, it's actually a 2.6L.

the RX8 is not faster than a 99-07 Mustang GT.

I've seen a few at the track and the best I have seen is mid 15's. Oh and they go through as much fuel if not more than a stock GT.

GT would win. I've easily beaten a few. They are fun to drive though since you can really wind them out and they handle well.

RX-8's are not fast. They were originally rated at 250HP, however they were found to not have anything close to that. They have around 230HP (220 with Automatic) and i remember some RX8 owners trying to get a class action lawsuit together to sue for false advertising seeing as they thought they were buying a car with more HP.

They are Ford-owned, so i don't see what the big deal is.

does your friend know about the renesis engine recall?

and tell him to put in a quart (dino, not synthetic) every few fillups. far too many people don't know that and run it on low oil.

Rotory engine is designed to burn some oil to lube apex seal.

I remenber hearing story tat when older RX7(one with 12B in it. i think it was 85 or 84) was released in Japan, it first came with separate oil tank for this for like 1 year. Which was quickly replaced by having bigger oil pan capacity , instead of separate tank like 2 cycle on US export model, as it was deemed lazy american driver would never checked level of oil in separate tank, and would run seal dry very quick, and kill apex seal

or something like that.

With that being said, I think RX8 would make great replacement for my mighty Geo prizm as daily beater....

I went to the Mazda Zoom ZOom Live event in dc this year and they let you drive a rx-8 on a road course as fast as you want. It was nothing compared to the stang. I have a bullitt. I think the GT wins just on raw power, the rx-8 is pretty nimble but.... its like playing tiger woods, you may be good but c'mon you aint beatin tiger.

I gotta say, if the Rx8 managed to pull some LS1 power out of it's rotary butt it would be an ultimate car. It's so smooth feeling, and drives like butter.
