Hi,
This morning I went to go start my automatic gt. I put the key in and it turned on, but it wouldnt completly stay on by itself. I had to give it gas just to keep it on and when I left off the accelerator it would go blo, blob, blob and it just die. Could it be my fuel pump going out?

What about the IAC, did you rule it out yet?

Im not to sure about that. It just seems like the gas is not being pump so it can start. It makes a screaching sound when it dies.

My IAC got worse and worse over a period of weeks, until it just would not
idle at all, At the time I had no clue what it was until my nieghbor who
is a mechanic said change out the IAC. After I installed the new one it
idled perfectly.

IAC...$50-100 depending on what your dealer charges and takes 5 minutes to swap...VERY EASY!

2 bolts, a plug, and a hose, once you buy the part you will know what to do.
But get a Motorcraft IAC

Try to unstick the one ya got first (worked for me).

Remove it and look inside, your gonna see a little post and a spring. get some brake clean or carb. clean and spray the hell out of it. (just be careful there is a motor in there and i wouldn’t want to drown it in any cleaning solution) you can move the post back and forth just work it a little and clean the inside with a pipe cleaner. wait for it to all dry out and give it a shot.

Well I cleaned mine over a year ago and haven't had a problem since Doesn't mean that it won't in the future though.

I'd alteast attempt the $3 fix instead of the $60 fix.

....that's what I'd check first. Pull it off and clean it up and see how it runs.
