Gt Wont stay on.

Carbon build up makes them go bad.

You can use carb cleaner to clean them out and get some more life out of them.

It is a solenoid actuated valve, when it gets carboned up the valve sticks.

Hi,You guys were right about it being the IAC valve. It had a lot of carbon gunk built up in it. I had to wait until this afternoon to do because I didnt have time to do it during the week day. It took me about 20 min to clean it real good. You guys saved me $101 for a part that I didn't need to buy when all I had to do was clean it out. You guys rock all the way.</p>

hey its worth it to just by a new one next thing you know youll get check engine lights and the problem will probally come back. Auto Zone carries the IAC valve (or bypass as it might be called) for 49.99. Just replaced mine yesterday actually. You might want to check your throttle body as well if you IAC was that jacked up you TB might be coated in carbon. Also another thing, the hose line comming off the IAC make sure its secure to the intake hose and the IAC if its loose or comes off you will stall out easy fix for that is a 97 cent pair of worm clamps
