So I just got my 390 running in my truck, I pulled it to ring it. I havent driven it, heat cycles and blasts down the road, so the rings still may not be seated, but I am getting alot of smoke out the breathers. Even when the motor is off, for quite a while it will sit there and smoke out the breathers. Its not really smoking out the pipes like it was, and it runs really good. Heads are good, valve seats are good, and i used viton seals. Its got a solid lifter cam and barbell lifters. Could this be the issue, too much oil getting to the top end? Or is it most likely blow by? Maybe I just need to drive it, but I hope its not gonna have to come out again.

Yeah, I was thinking there was too much oil in the top end, but I dont think that could explain the smoke. This motor isnt going to see too much rpm, i mean all that is needed :D . I have arp studs in the heads for the rocker stands which dont neck down like the stock ford oiling bolt, would this help reduce some flow?

Yea, but I'm not sure whether or not that may be too much of a restriction. Seems I had that idea once but was told the restrictor under the stand was the way to go. The solid dumbell lifters offer no restriction in the lifter gallery. If you have a rocker come loose, and bend then pop the pushrod out of place, the lifter then can be jumped out of it's bore, THEN you've got an oiling problem. If you're running the stock rockers that's a very real possibility. The only thing keeping the lash set is the interference fit threads on the adjuster bolts.
