GT40 Heads on 289

Has anbody put a set of GT40 heads on a 289 engine? I was giving a set of GT40 heads off of a 93 lightning and was wondering if they were a direct bolt on. Thanks curtis

yes they are a direct bolt on, but you need the right head bolts for the swap. remember that the 351w used 1/2" head bolts and the 289 use 7/16" head bolts. there is a heap bolt for the swap that has a larger shank to fit the heads, and the smaller thread pattern to fit the block. i believe that arp sells them.

I believe you may have to drill steam holes in the heads to match the 289 block. Perhaps someone else can confirm or refute this
