im preparing to buy a ported gt40(explorer) intake from a friend. his intake by far had a great torque band from the graph the last time he tuned it. i know i need gaskets and a bigger TB. what do i need to complete the swap? fuel pressure regulator, bigger injectors ? suggestions
 
i forgot to mention about the elbow. what i read from another thread that if any manifold is going to be installed on our cars, the EEC would have issues with vaccum, A/F ratio problem,etc. i highly doubt it this but would like to give it a 2nd thought. acoarse it has to done right. would it be nesscary to get an adj FPR that you can tune? also would get away with just leaving 19lbs injectors on ? btw im still stock.
 
19lbers are safe to use.you dont need larger injectors untill you go forced injected or get heads and a cam.the added air from the ported explorer isnt enough to warrant a tune,and you can use the stock regulator the adjustable isnt needed its more of a want than a need.i have a bbk adjustable new you can have for say 50.i put it on and drove it for 5 miles and found the problem was a vac leak so i put the stocker on and havent done nothing with it.can send pics if ya like.

if you are just putting on the intake , you should be able to just use the adaptor and get the proper gaskets and put it on without doing anything else to the car and it should run fine

Just the elbow is needed. Everything else just swaps over. I have the Explore intake. I used the the stock injectors, tb and MAF with the Explorer intake and aluminum heads with 1.7:1 rolller rocker arms with no problems.
 
sounds good. im going to powder coat it first. since it's ported upper/lower, i bet ill get LOADS of tq then usual come dyno time soon :D. my boy went over the 300 mark with this
