GT40 lower = Explorer lower?

I keep seeing people advertise Explorer and Cobra lowers as GT40 lowers. Are these lowers all the same?

All GT40 intakes share the same lower. The only difference is the upper. Ford only has 3 different styles of uppers - the Explorer, Cobra and GT40. There is much speculation about which is best. Anderson Ford did a test on those three manifolds several years ago, and their test concluded that the Explorer manifold is the best, all around manifold. There are many who don't buy into it.

I have heard some reports that the explorer lowers may have slightly smaller ports. If it's true, they might work better with GT style heads.

Either way, it shouldn't hurt, because any one who is serious about performance should port match it to the heads any way.
