Im in the process of putting gt40p heads and a E303 cam on my 93 gt. The gt40s are bare and im kinda on a budget. Could i use the rockers, springs, lifters and pushrods from the origonal heads? If not, any input on which to get?

get the spring upgrade kit from trickflow i had to. And you can use the stock rockers and push rods unless the heads get decentlt milled.

Rockers are the same as the Mustang rockers as far as I know. I have a set right here and they look identical.

You can use the Mustang stuff, but since you have a different cam, you should really upgrade the springs. TFS and Crane both make upgraded springs for the heads.

The explorer springs are diff than the mustang ones due to the cam differences. With an ecam and stock springs you will start to float the valves in the higher rpms. Thats why the spring upgrade kit is reccomended.

But at a minimum he can use the Mustang stock E7 springs instead of the explorer springs since they are stiffer.

But like i said before, he should have upgraded his springs when he put the E303 in his car.

I know that the whole spring thing is covered in depth on the corral link above. But, i have a situation i could use some advice on. I'm using gtp's on my stock e7 roller cam motor. Should i use the stock e7 springs or the stock gtp/explorer springs? Sounds like from above that the stock e7 springs are stiffer/better?

I'm trying to keep mine really simple and use the gtp's with a cobra intake and the stock cam. Also, does it make sense to use 1.7 rockers or the stock e7's? Will i get any benefit from the 1.7's on the stock cam with the gtp heads?

thanks.....

i know there are tons of threads here and on the corral for gtp stuff....but when you ask here and now it sticks better in your memory...

I'd use the E7 springs at a minimum. And yes, the 1.7's would be worht the effort. I plan on running 1.7's with my P heads

Thanks for the reply. I should know the answer to this next question, but it's been a while since i've read about this specifically.....using the 1.7 rockers is essentially like adding lift to the cam, correct? It opens the valves further?
