i have problem to install crane spring part #44308-1 (conical ) on gt40p head,when install big end spring down the small end is too tigth to insert the reitaner on spring and when install small end down i think its wrong the small end sit up on valve guide base so do i need to machine the head to install the spring and what the correct install.
one more thing the stock gt0p valve tem seal seems weird to me .its umbrella type seal,do i need to replace it with teflon with lock seal becouse when mov the valve it come of the guide and be in valve.
sorry for long post but i want your help

i paid to have my p's assembled after having them milled. I used the trickflow springs which i got cheap but without the retainers. the shop used dif retainers on the intake side an swapped the exhaust ones over to the intake side go get the spring height right.

big end down there has to be a burr on either piece they'll go I used these alot, you gan upgrade to the pc style seals if you like

It's ok if the umbrella seal moves with the valve, it's supposed to. I prefer the teflon ones though, they work better and will be more out of the way when you are installing the valve springs.
