Well i have been posting awhile and was not sure about what I was going to get.Well with the dealers wanting $2000 over sticker,or going with the GTOs at the same price of $29000.
Went with a friend to a Pontiac dealer last night and seen the GTOs.My friend thought that were Grandams and when i started looking at them a bit more i was very Disapointed.It looks like a Grandam a bit but the Grandam looked a bit more like a muscle car with its Cool hoodscoops and bodystyle.But the inside was Cloth and a V6{not for me}
Went over to a ford dealer and the mustangs looked like a hotter car
I would have bought the GT but it was a Auto and had Cloth seats and was red{My 2003 Stang Gt is the same red}
Saw a Mustang V6 with a hoodscoop selling for over $3300 with the Extras. What extras a hoodscoop and wing for $3300 extra so it would look like a GT?
Well I am ordering My Gt on Monday Black, Leather seats,18 inch wheels on a X-plan.
Glad i went with someone to show me what i would be driving if i bought the GTO
Even with the Charger you might get a HEMI but if the car looks like a YUGO even if it had a HEMI you would still have to drive a very ugly car.Johnny

Yea YEa Yea but i needed to get to the dealer and bring a friend with me so i would not make a mistake.
GTO only thing it has is a 400ph engine.
I always said the stang was a cool style car and really not seeing the GTO inperson i had trouble picking what one i really wanted.
But its good checking the car out and not i know i am not missing anything.1 out of 30 dealers so far will except the X-plan and made sure i told the salesmanager X-Plan for a GT and he said no problem....Wish there would be many other dealers a bit closer that would take X-Plan pricing.................Thanks Johnny

also going through the same debate myself. i dunno. i guess i really need to go see the car in person as well. 400HP, IRS, a 6-spd, and the fact that the car is actually being sold UNDER MSRP is a really appealing package. i just don't know if i can get over the looks.

Same here,Going to the dealer now and put my order in,,He said he's surposed to get 2 Mustangs in between 6 and 8 weeks and i will be the first on his list...Pretty big dealership so i assume i should be able to get one.Go checkout the GTO and look at the Grandam and Grandprix and i am sure you will go with the Stang.I cannot see myself driving in one and i am sure you will feel the sameway...........Check it out ..Johnny

So does this mean you'll now be a troll on the Pontiac boards instead of driving all of us nuts? Just kiddin. Congrats. Seems like you thought this through long and hard. As a stang owner, I obviously think you made the right choice. Hopefully that dealer isn't BSing you and you'll have the car before summer's over.

On a sidenote, does Johnny remind anyone else of Excon? What ever happened to Excon? His posts were always amusing and he was great at getting people all riled up.

ExCon was banned a while back. However, minus his trolling, he was very funny and informative at times

Johnny does have similarities with ExCon - but there was only one ExCon. Johnny, just out of curiosity, do you know much about Zaino - and do you already own a new Convertible - maybe you really live in Florida?

while i haven't driven an '05 GT yet, i can vouch for the '05 GTOs being one sweet ride.

drive one before you dog it. awesome steering, stupid power, good brakes, great interior. sure they're heavy and have.. uninspired styling, but from behind the wheel they're a blast.

anyways, not trying to start a flame war, just saying you should make sure you drive before you decide.

I am from the Poconos and Montauk area.
I am not going to go with the Xplan,a friend of mine used to work at a ford dealer transporting cars from dealership to another one.But anyway the salesmanager told me since i am a good friend of the guy that used to work for him that he will WORK WITH ME.And they only sell mustangs at sticker....What do you think that means when he says he will WORK WITH ME?Price will be cheaper? He told be there is one guy in front of me since he didnot get his 2005.He told me there is no Guarantee when i will get the car.It can take 8 weeks or 20 weeks but before DEC he would think. What do yea all think? Thanks Johnny

Very Confused just called a Dealer and he told he that the Gereral Manager said it was ok to give me the X-Plan but he cannot get me the price untill they are released.{no problem}Or would it be best to go with the ford dearler in my area that my friend knows and the salesmanager WILL TAKE CARE of me?
If its only a matter of a few hundred dollars no problem.Johnny

I think he can't tell you the price, because 06's can't officially be ordered in the system yet.

I'd go with the x-plan if I were you. He won't give you a better price than what you can get on x-plan.

Well i don't think it will hurt and talk to the guy and see what price he will give me.Like he said he WILL TAKE CARE OF ME and maybe giving me a better tradein on my 2003 mustang Gt.{I am sure if you had a friend at ford and they told you that they would take care of you ,you would think CHEAPER Price}And maybe the guy that says he will give me the X-Plan will give me little for my tradein and hate driving a hour to that dealership just to MAYBE save a few hundred dollars

personally i think you made a very wrong choice, but thats just me.

GTO = the ****, amazing power, sleek looks (as opposed to the mustangs ... sweet looks i guess), 6 spd, bigger displacement, decent mileage, much more comfy interior.

Congrats, Johnny!!

I'm still going through the debate of my own concerning the GTO and GT.

Now there are a few dealers here tossing out extra $500 coupons for GM cars. I still have another $500 coupon from the AutoShow in Motion.

That would take a $34k GTO down quite a bit:

MSRP $33,XXX
Employee Price $30,285
AutoShow coupon $29,785
Extra coupon $29,285

Now if only GM will toss out a rebate...

If not, I'll be ordering a Tungsten GT 'vert. I just have to find a Ford dealer that'll take X-plan.

Yea the GTO engine would be great in a Mustang.
But was not really pleased at looking at it with the Grandams and grandPrixs around. They all looked alike

Take a drive on sunday when the dealers are closed.Walk around the parking lot and look at the cool GrandAms with the hoodscoops.Once you walk around the Pontiac lot a bit, i think even if they drop it to $28,000 i really would not be very appy with the car.
The inside of the GTO is very nice and the 400hp is great but we still want a Body that looks good....Very depressing after i know i could get a great deal on a GTO but really thinking about it i know the car is not at hotttt as the mustang gt,so the GtOs a tad faster.......Johnny

C'mon, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I love my GTO, especially the 04. The 05 isn't too bad, especially the split exhaust. And fwiw, the new stang does look pretty sharp compared to their past cars (I like the Mach 1). I don't know if it is pulling too many folks away from the GTOs, but it is definitely luring folks away from their SRT-4s.

Quit analyzing; quit obsessing over #'s and statistics. Look at the cars-drive the cars and make the decision like you would when you choose a woman.

It's an emotional decision not a logical decision. Choose the car that excites you, not the one that has a few more HP or a little better price.
