guess-timate

So, im taking my car into GTR High Performance, located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA for a zex intall and tune on my 98 GT. Was wondering what you guys think i might run with a 75 shot of nitrous.

Heres the bolt-ons already

BBK Intake
BBK 75 MM throttle body
BBK Plenum
9MM Ford Racing wires
Im getting Steeda underdrives put on as well.

Mac o/r x-pipe
3.73 gears
Mcloud Clutch
and i have my predator hand held.

btw. PI swap. For all the newbs who dont know me really.

I'm going to be changing out the spark plugs to colder ones, change the oil and filter and fuel filter along with a detail.

Let me know what you guys think she'll put down.

I'm going to get a video up on the dyno as well.

You are installing a Zex kit, not a NOS kit ;) Also remember that Zex rates their kits at the flywheel rather than at the wheels so don't be discouraged if that doesn't produce the numbers you want on their "75" jets.:flag:

100 shot or don't bother in my opinion. A 75 shot rated at the crank will be kind of disappointing.

100 shot is fine, especially a wet kit, as long as your fuel pump is in good working order. Tuning for a 100 shot is no harder than a 75 shot. They'll probably pull 2-4* of timing (from STOCK, this is very important) and adjust fuel if your A/F ratio isn't spot on.

That being said, on a 75 shot I'd expect 330rwhp and on a 100 shot, around 350rwhp. The torque should be close to, or over 400 lb ft. depending on the shot.

Decided to go with the 100 shot for tomorrow. I changed my oil, changed my spark plugs (got colder ones, even put them in the refrigerator to make them colder....jk) and my fuel filter. So, shes ready to go in tomorrow. Pretty dam excited. My car is gonna be pretty fast haha.

Sounds like you're ready to rock and roll... let us know the numbers!

final numbers with 75 shot

330 hp
380 hp
temperature today was 99 degrees :/

How much did you pay for the kit?

I'm really surprised your running nos in your car. In California its highly illegal. Did you know that if you get into an accident and its in your car and the insurance finds out they wont cover your car? I thought about nos a while ago but way to many downsides. As it is i got a fine for an adjustable blow of valve. The fine was 2k, but i got it reduced to 500 after seeing the referee. I got pulled over and the cop made me pop my hood, which is how he found out. In California its not illegal for them to force you to pop your hood.

If you can hide the nos wires where there hiding under things. If you do this a cop cant cant write you the ticket. The cop who wrote my ticket said that he thinks my blow of valve is adjustable and i need to see a referee. He was an ass and just wanted to force me though the ref station.

I recently put that by pass valve back on, but hid in in the feders where its not viewable without removing the bumper.

Either way, I'd take it out when not in use or run only at the track. California sucks and I cant wait till I'm finished with school to leave.

Good luck and enjoy the car.

sorry, i meant 380 tq.

as far as the kit. I paid whatever it costs at american muscle back in Janurary when they had a sale. I dont have a purge kit. Or a window switch or a anything else for that matter. Just a simple arm and go kit. As far as if its illegal or not. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO HAVE ONE HOOKED UP. IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE IT. but, the reason why i took it to a shop is because they hid everything, and i mean, they blacked out the lines and hid the brain and wires.

I probably wont use it that much. Considering its a convert. I cannot fold my seats and open the bottle so im not worried about that. And like i said, if its all off. They cant say ish besides try n scare you.

Ill get some pics up tomrrow. for all you guys :)

Actually if you get sited for (27156 VC) then your screwed. The way that law is written any modification that is not CARB approved done to a vehicle is illegal. I fought it in court and talked to the judge personally about it. NOS is not illegal to buy, but is illegal to have in your car. Thats because you modified something in your car to get it to run. Like the hoses and ecu ect... Ecu modifications or chips are illegal without a carb number. Again that falls under (27156 VC). That all depends on the cop and if he wants to be an ass about it.

Honestly the only cops who would give you a hard time would probably be those street racing trained officers. The officer who pulled me over was one of those dicks too. The cops can actually enter your trunk without your permission and that's because ford decided to put a push button trunk pop. In California the only places in a car that is off limits is anything with a key. So if the trunk has a key lock your safe. Either way a cop would look under the hood way before they'd go for the trunk. If your shop did everything you said they did I'm sure you're 100% Safe. Just be careful because there is always that possibility, but like you i also have to take those risks. Its the only way to enjoy the car. So drive safe and enjoy that beast.

I know I'm late. But this is as hidden as it can get. I know WE all know what we're looking for but hopefully no one else does . I'm going to be painting anything left over purple to black. Only because.....purple looks waaack.

I saw the nitrous nozzle. It's not very well hidden actually.

My 2.3 has a little 35 shot... I have friends who have been playing with cars for 40 years and it still took them at least 2 min to find the spray nozzle. If I didn't tell them it had nitrous, I bet they never would have found it. ;)

However, I have the advantage of more tubing to hide it in because of the front mount intercooler.
