could be on a c130, I cant tell. the image is small. I cant find my glasses.

and I just realized its 1 in the morning. Not sure why I am up thinking about what that is, this late at night.

They have a bigger version of that gun on Navy ships. It's called a Phalynx or CIWS System, and at least on our ships, it shoots 20mm shells at 4,500 rounds per minute, when it works . That one on that huey might shoot .50 cal. . That's my guess anyway.

is that what it is?! no wonder i've never seen one before. how much does one cost? my buddy said the gun was a m17? i don't believe him because it doesn't look anything like a m16. be nice to have one and duct tape it on my sunroof. patrol my neighborhood

That is an automated rice control device. It is activated at and tracks vehicles using a farttip exhast system and revving thier engine...

WE have that on my ship, well something really similar, its called a MK 44 Gatlin Gun. It shoots 7.62MM at 3K per minute, alot like the CIWS you spoke of, we had that too.

Next size down from the CIWS was just the .50 cal stations we had around the ship. But that was on a Cruiser 20 years ago. I'm sure alot has changed. I was an OS. You'd laugh at the radars we used back then. Ancient, even back then.
