Does anyone have a guide on what I'll need to get/do to convert my 2.3 to a 5.0

I already have a 8.8 and K member out of my old 5.0

It will be a carb motor.

See the http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/technical-thread-how-to-index.808661/ in 50 Tech. Inside it are all sorts of technical how to do it docs, including this one: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=516785 which tells you exactly what you need to know to do a 2.3 to 5.0 conversion.

I will tell you this, you better have a 5.0 Mustang you can rob for parts sitting next to your target car. Except for the body and some other small parts, the 5.0 Mustang is a completely different car. Most guys who are really smart and serious about the project buy a rolling 5.0 Mustang body to strip for parts.

The 5.0 and 2.3 K member are one and the same. I have done the swap, and don't know that I would do it again. I agree that it's almost mandatory to have a 5.0 donor car sitting there to swap parts from for your 2.3 car. Here's a link to an article I wrote shortly after performing the swap, on what all was required. http://mr5oh.tripod.com/4to8.html

Look man I just did this about a month ago I didn't have a donor car and it wasn't hard at all I did it by my self in 2 days these are my ? To u are u putting air back on the car smog parts or power stearing as far as bolting the motor in just v8 mounts and it'll bolt right in if u need to just talk ill give u my nun and I can walk u through it as fare as the brakes go mine stops very well and that is still the 4 banger stuff and I wouldn't change it for the v8 stuff but would put the 8.8 outback

Yeah - don't over think the procedure by too much / I have no donor car either at my disposal - I bought a nice used 5.0 -8.8 rear axle complete for only a $100 (it fit in the trunk of my taurus to get it home) - if your going carburated (like I am ) you can pretty much take the whole engine harness and dump it - I think I'm safe using the 4 cyl's suspension up front - w/the original brakes (fine for a street car) ( I bought a new trans hump w/the dual's for dual exhaust ) - I plan on just putting lowering springs on the back only (to even it out ) and maybe doing a disk conversion on the rear - my biggest concern was fuel delivery - but with research and a new gas tank - w/the correct pick up / electric pump - you'll be ok -

You both shouldn't have any issue I even used the 4 banger alternator lol I also went w a hei distributor for 45$ and I removed all the wires to the computer as far as the fuel goes I mounted a in line pump on my firewall and it works great as far as gas tank I'm used the factory on just removed the factory pump and replaced it w fuel line and by doing this you must use fuel injection hose gas will destroy normal fuel line and I am very pleased w this car it runs good drives and rides well and I actually raised my rear 1 in when I added traction bars and drag springs but it looks good has nice stance

If you can find a donor, do that. When I did my swap I found a totalled gt convertible, paid 900$ for it, Took everything I needed (there was alot), and parted the rest out for 1100$. I actually made money! Also, you didn't mention having a tranny? You might want one. Just my two cents, have fun it, I did.

Thanks for the info ...so your saying you used the stock tank with the stock pick up and just took out the pump and you get really good pressure to your carb? what pump did you use? - sorry Lilberx I don't mean to hijack your thread .....

Yes it called fuel injection hose its looks just like regular 3/8 rubber gas line but the gas will cause non fi line to deteriorate inside gas tank like that if I'm right u only need about 6 inch just go to your local parts store and pick u up a foot of it they will no what to get you also something new I discovered when putting in your 8.8 rear axle you can take the backing plates off the 7.5 wire tie them up and they will fit the 8.8 housing so your factory drums and brake shoes can be used also by doing this there will be no need to bleed your brake lines
