Im not a big fan of the stock 05 GT rims, I was wondering what some you guys think of them being black, I made a fast photoshop just to give u an idea, I would like to know what is the proper name for the process I want them to be black, not flat black I think its called gun metal or it Powder Coated?, around how much would it cost for a shop to paint them and would they chip?

powder coating would be the most durable. dont know how much it would cost though. paint would be ok for the short term, after a while it wont look as good unless you clean them everyday (assuming the bodyshop prepped them well enough for the paint to adhere well.) if you are gonna do it and want it foreever, powder coat, if its just short term look into painting them. cheack prices first, that may be the deciding factor. i was thinking about chroming the wheels for a different look....

powder coating them would make them flat black or can u choose a certain finish or color to that, the GT im waiting for comes with too options that i don't want the spoiler and the rims so im trying to deal with these too options, can the body shop (or what ever u call it for wheels) paint the rims without removing the tires and have good results or its almost imposible, because if i decide to paint them i don't feel like jacking the car buying some 4 jack holder(don't know what ther called, the thing the u put the under a car when u don't have rims) taking the wheels to a tire shop to remove the tire form the rims, then going to the shop to be painted, take them back to the tire shop to mount the tires and then to put the wheels back on the car, i would rather just remove them and get them painted im too lazy but i think its a bad idea.

I guess im lazy and i making a big deal about mounting and unmounting the tires

for best results, the tires would need to come off...or at least let all the air out and push down on the tire to un-seat the bead. it is possible to paint them with the tire, but its like painting a door without removing the handle, mirror, and mouldings, just poor workmanship. i think you can get powder coating in different finishes, but i think that the tire would have to be removed for that. i dont see a way around it for this. you could drop the mustang off at the body shop and let them deal with removing the wheels and it sitting around for a few days....or you could put jack stands under it as well. either way, the wheels should come off as well as the tires for best results. sounds like for the price of all this, if you dont like the wheels anyway, you could buy some used ones. especially if you like the bullet wheels, those are available left and right. most people put aftermarket wheels on anyway. if you have the budget, just get your own aftermarket wheels/tires.

Powdercoating is the way to go. It will be around 50 buck a wheel. Yes you need to dismount the tire. Dont be lazy, you'll be sorry later if you dont put the effort out now. Its a new car for god sakes :D
